Post-Graduate C.M.E. (PG-CME) on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - Department of Psychiatry, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy

Department of Psychiatry, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), Nitte University and Indian Psychiatric Society-Karnataka Chapter, in association with Mangalore Psychiatric Society (M.P.S.) organized a Post-Graduate C.M.E. (PG-CME) on Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on Sunday, the 9th February-2014 at Seminar Hall, 2nd Floor, Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte, and Mangalore. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean of KSHEMA at 8.30 A.M.







It was presided over by Dr. K.S. Madhava Rao, President of IPS-KC. Dr. Ravish Tunga, Prof. & HoD, Department of Psychiatry, KMC, Mangalore, Dr. Kiran Kumar, Prof. & HoD, Department of Psychiatry, A.J. Shetty Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore, Dr. Harish Delanthabettu, Prof. & HoD, Department of Psychiatry, KVG Medical College, Sullia. Dr. John Mathai, Prof.&HoD, Department of Psychiatry, Fr.Muller Medical College, Mangalore and Dr. K.S. Madhava Rao, President of IPS-KC chaired the sessions. This programme was aimed at psychiatry post graduate students from all over Karnataka. Dr. Santosh Prabhu, Asst. Professor, Department of Psychiatry, KSHEMA spoke on Introduction to Child Psychiatry, Dr. John Vijay Sagar, Assoc. Prof. , Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bangalore, presented a topic on Assessment and Management of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dr. Ajit Bhide, Prof. HoD, Department of Psychiatry, St. Martha’s Hospital, Bangalore, presented a topic on Externalising Childhood Disorders.

Dr. S.M. Manohari, Additional Professor, Department of Psychiatry, St. John’s Medical College & Hospital, Bangalore presented a topic on Eating Disorders-Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. Dr. Shekar Seshadri, Professor, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, NIMHANS presented a topic on Ethics in Child Psychotherapy. Dr. Y.C. Janardhan Reddy, Professor, Department of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, Bangalore presented a topic on Childhood Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The programme also included a mock examination for Post graduate students in Psychiatry.

The Karnataka Medical Council has granted two credit hours for the CME. Dr. PSVN Sharma, Prof. & HoD , Department of Psychiatry , KMC, Manipal & Dr. Janaradhan Reddy explained the examination techniques. Dr. Shishir Kumar, Asst. Professor, Department of Psychiatry., KSHEMA, explained the Critical Challenges in Examination. Dr. Satheesh Rao, Prof. & HoD, Department of Psychiatry, KSHEMA gave concluding remarks. In the meanwhile the National Level Psychiatry Quiz winners of our college students Rahul Rao and Atul Kamath were honoured by Department of Psychiatry , KSHEMA and M.P.S. 115 Delegates from all over Karnataka were benefited by this programme.
