Abstract
The Principal, Dr. C S Shastry welcomed Dr. M Himaja and he explained in his introductory speech the achievement of speaker in the field of spectroscopy to faculty members and PG students gathered.

The speaker introduced the topic “Application of IR spectroscopy in qualitative analysis” to the audience by starting with basic principle, the causes of IR radiations by molecules, the different type of vibrational frequencies like symmetric, asymmetric, stretching, scissoring, wagging etc. The interpretation of IR spectra was demonstrated by taking very simple organic compounds and by giving different forms of exercises to the audience. The guest lecture was very interactive and the speaker clarified all the queries raised by the audience.

Finally, Dr. R Narayana Charyulu, Vice Principal of the college proposed the vote of thanks. He commended Dr. Himaja for sharing her experience and knowledge with students and staff members of the Institution to boost their knowledge about recent development and approaches in the field of spectroscopy.
