Training for Syndicate Bank clerical staff on 25/08/14 at NIBF

“Responsibility grows vertically with position”said Dr S Ramananda Shetty, Vice Chancellor, Nitte University. Dr Ramananda Shetty was inaugurating 3weeks Induction Training Program for the newly recruited Probationary Clerks of Syndicate Bank. The program is being conducted by Nitte Institute of Banking and Finance at their Paneer Campus, Deralakatte. Dr S Ramananda Shetty speaking further emphasized the need of orientation & training to new recruits of an organization. He also called upon the participants to acquire skills & knowledge to discharge their duties in banking and also social obligations Dr M S Moodithaya, Registrar, Nitte University, speaking on the occasion advised the participants to dedicate themselves to the Objectives of the bank and serve with a smile, and contribute to the Growth of the great Bank. He recalled the long standing relationship with the bank & Nitte institutions. Dr N K Thingalaya formed Chairman & Managing Director of Syndicate Bank presided over the function and called upon the Bank employees to be innovative and work with total dedication and concern to the weaker section. Vanamahotsav at NGSMIPS

Extensive deforestation throughout the world in the recent years has resulted in unprecedented climatic changes in the form of scanty rainfall, Flash floods, droughts, cyclones and rising heat waves. We can’t call these as natural calamities anymore because this was not the same earth we inherited; rather our constant interference with nature for selfish pursuits has resulted in these ecological disturbance and climatic uncertainties.

   

In order to create awareness and concern among the youth about environment protection, the NSS cell of the college organized “Vanamahotsava” programme on 21st August 2014. The Principal Dr. C.S. Shastry addressed the volunteers and said it is time we seriously engaged ourselves in taking corrective measures before it is too late and situation slips out of control. The chief guest Dr. Muralee Mohan Choontharu, NSS Co-ordinator, Nitte University planted saplings and inaugurated the programme. The N.S.S Program officer, Mr. Santanu Saha thanked the staff and NSS student volunteers for their active participation

Induction Training Program - NIBF

“Serve the Bank’s clients with smile and commitment” said Sri K T Rai, Field General Manager, Syndicate Bank. Sri K T Rai was addressing over 150 Probationary Assistant Managers of the Bank as chief guest at the valedictory function of the 4 week long Induction Training Program held for them at Nitte Institute of Banking & Finance, Deralkatte. Sri K T Rai further recounted the rich culture & heritage of the Bank. He informed the trainees about the noble vision of the Bank’s Founders in taking up Financial Inclusion as early as 1927 when the Pygmy deposit was launched for the poorest segment of the society. Speaking further, Sri Rai called upon the officers to work with empathy and always extend a helping hand to the needy.


He also appreciated the contribution of Nitte Institute in grooming Bank’s young officers and preparing them to face the challenges of the days ahead in banking industry. Dr N K Thingalaya, Former CMD Syndicate bank presided over the function and shared his experiences with the young officers and advised them to have a biased approach towards the deprived class in the society. School health programme by NUINS

NSS unit of Nitte Usha Institute of Nurisng sciences organized a school health programme for DKGP Higher Primary school on 21-08-2014 at Deralakatte.







Total 25 NSS volunteers with Mrs. Cleeta and Mrs Suchithra, NSS programme officers, and Ms. Preveena Asst.NSS programme officers actively participated in the programme. The topic selected for the school health programme was Mosquito Borne Diseases.The programme started at 11.00am with invocation, followed by the welcome speech. The NSS volunteers performed a role play depicting the transmission of malaria by mosquito followed by students explained with slides in detail about Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya –meaning, causes, prevention, and management. A video was projected on Mosquito Borne Diseases and pamphlets were distributed to all the students.

CME / Symposium at KSHEMA

Department of Microbiology K.S.Hegde Medical Academy has conducted the second annual CME on infectious diseases in adults at the seminar hall (2nd Floor) of K.S.Hegde Hospital on 14th August 2014.The CME was inaugurated by Prof Dr.Satheesh Kumar Bhandary Dean of KSHEMA and Head of the Department Dr.Vimal Kumar Karnaker welcomed the gathering. Speakers for the day were Dr.Vandana K.E, Professor of Microbiology from KMC Manipal, Dr John Anthony Jude Prakash from CMC Vellore, Dr Gokul B.N from Fortis Bangalore, Dr. Vinod C.S from S.S Medical institute Davangere. They gave recent updates on infectious disease. Delegates from various medical colleges attended the CME. Dr Rekha Rai Professor of the department delivered the vote of thanks.

A Orientation Programme 2014 was at tapovana, Thokur on 19th August 2014. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. Jayarama Shetty, Professor, Nitte School of Management, Yelahanka,Bangalore.He addressed the newly joined students & their parents and explained the various opportunities for skilled person in next 5 years. Sri Jagadish, Prinicpal, Govt. ITI, delivered related information on Technical Education.Principal Sri Y.N.Salian presided over the function. Sri Harischandra recited Prayer, Training officer Raghuram Rao had given brief introduction ITI training. Suresh S. JTO delivered vote of thanks. Programme was compared by Sri Laxami Kanth. All teaching &non-teaching staff were present on the occasion.

NITTE SPECIAL CHILD (N-SPEC) PROGRAMME - ABSMIDS

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry, A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Nitte University organized a Dental and Medical screening camp as a part of Nitte Special Child programme (N-SPEC) in collaboration with Sarva Shikshana Abhiyana, Government of Karnataka, under the able guidance of Sr. Prof. (Dr) Amitha M Hegde and co-ordinator Dr. Amarshree Shetty. The departments of Psychiatric, Ophthamology, Speech & Hearing , Orthopedics, Pediatrics and Genetics of K. S. Hegde Medical Academy, Nitte University, had joined with department of pedodontics in this endeavor, on August 8th 2014 at 9.00 am at Gurpur. Dental and Medical screening of 120 special children was done. ‘Makkala Arogya Kshema’ Health cards with the treatment needs was given to each child, to avail their respective treatments at A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences and K.S. Hegde Medical Academy at concised rate.

Forensic Medicine, Workshop at KSHEMA

Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology conducted a One day workshop ‘Posco Act 2012 and Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013’ for the police officers of the western range comprising of four districts –Udupi,DK, Chikmagalur & Uttar Kannada on Wednesday, 6th August, 2014. The workshop was attended by 90 police officers above the rank of Police sub Inspectors. IGP (western range) Amrith Paul,IPS was the chief guest of the workshop.Prof Dr M Shantaram Shetty, Pro -chancellor, Nitte University, presided over the programme.


Superintendent of police of DK District Dr Sharanappa S D, IPS, Advocate Shyamala Bhandary, Member women’s commission, Karnataka State and Prof (Dr) Satish Kumar Bhandary, Dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy were the guests of honor. "Breast feeding week celebration" at K S Hegde Charitable Hospital

Department of Pediatrics organized an awareness program “World Breastfeeding Week” from August 1st to 7th, 2014. The program started on the 1st of August with a poster competition for the MBBS & Nursing students. The inaugural function was held on the 2nd of August with Prof Dr Satheesh Rao, Head of Dept. of Psychiatry as the Chief Guest. Prof Dr Vijaya Shenoy welcomed the gathering and spoke on the theme of the program for the year 2014. Dr Rathika Shenoy, Professor of Pediatrics & Dr Rushmi, Associate Professor of SPM gave lecture sessions on the topic of difficulties faced by the working women in the practice of breastfeeding. The coordinator of the program Prof. Dr Sudarshan Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. The program was attended by the staff and students of the Nursing College, Dental and Medical colleges. The program was well covered by the print and electronic media. Apart from this, the undergraduate students performed street plays in the post natal ward of the hospital to create awareness among the nursing mothers and also conducted a mini quiz program in the satellite centers of KSHEMA. Dr Swathi Y.U., assistant Professor of Pediatrics gave a live interactive interview in the local TV network and FM radio.




Trans Heamatology 2014 - Kshema

Department of Pathology, K.S.Hegde Medical Academy in association with Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists – Karnataka Chapter, organized an important Continuing Medical Education Programme on “Trans Heamatology 2014” on 09-08-2014 at K.S.Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte. This scientific programme mainly focused on various issues related with safe blood transfusion. Blood transfusion is a very important for a needy patient whenever there is a massive bleeding due to trauma or cancer related surgery. Dr.Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean, K.S.Hegde Medical Academy is the inaugural officer of the CME programme, Dr.Jayaprakash Shetty, Registrar of K.S.Hegde Medical Academy presided over the function. Dr.Prashanth Haematologist, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, Dr.ShameeShastry, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Dr.UrmilabKhadilkar, Dr.Karuna Ramesh Kumar and Dr.Arun, Consultant, Sri Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupathi were the resource persons. Dr.Kishan Prasad proposed the Vote of thanks. More than 150 delegates participated in this programme.




Orienation programme - Kshema

An orientation programme was held for newly joined postgraduates on 16-07-2014 between 9.30am to 3.30 pm, at the 2nd floor of Seminar Hall of Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital. Eighty two (82) postgraduates attended and benefited from the programme. The session was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Vice chancellor of Nitte University, Dr Ramananda Shetty who delivered inaugural message to the postgraduates. Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy enlighted about the institution to the participants.

VANAMAHOSTAVA AT NUINS

As a part of World Environment day NSS unit of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences organized a “Vanamahostava” program on 7-08-2014 at NUINS campus. The programme started at 10.30 am with welcoming the gathering. Mrs. Sherly Lucas, Nursing Superintendent, Justice KS Hedge Charitable hospital planted the sapling and Inaugurated the programme. On this occasion Prof. Fatima D’Silva, Principal College of Nursing, Prof. Sabitha Nayak Vice principal college of Nursing, Mrs. Cleeta Pinto and Mrs. Suchithra BS NSS programme officer were present. 50 NSS volunteers participated in the programme.

The Union Budget for 2014-15 - JKSHIM

The Union Budget for 2014-15 is not a carbon copy of the earlier UPA Budget. It is not a status quo budget at all. Since it indicates the direction of the movement of policies of Modi Government, it is a break from the past. The sense of commitment is a chief merit of the present budget. This was unanimously expressed by experts in the Panel Discussion on the Union Budget held at the Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management, Nitte on July 25th. The discussion was presided by the Institute Director Dr. K. Sanakran. Tracing the ups and downs in the growth rate of the Indian Economy, Dr. G V Joshi, Former Member of the Karnataka State Planning Board, said that the present Union Budget is intended to create an environment necessary for raising the growth rate to 7 percent per annum by 2016-17.



Emphasis on manufacturing and infrastructure is a right step for raising growth rate and job generation.Economist Dr. N K Thingalaya applauded the decision to constitute Expenditure Management Commission for pruning various public expenditures. Bringing out the need for increasing the financial strength of the public sector banks, he said that the retail investors and the bank staff may have to be encouraged to subscribe to bank shares. Chartered Accountant from Udupi CA Ganesh Y appreciated the intention of the Finance Minister to induce the Aam Aadmi (Common Man)to save more. Agricultural Economist Dr. N S Shetty expressed his appreciation for the Budget’s proposal to constitute a separate fund for irrigation. Prof Radhakrishna Sharma welcomed the intension of the Finance Minister to restrict fiscal deficit. Prof. K Ramesh Karnik liked the proposal of the Government to increase FDI in defense sector. Stating that defense and development are closely related to each other, he argued for raising defense expenditure – GDP Ratio. There was a lively discussion on the gender perspective and the management related aspects of the budget. The discussion was co ordinated by Dr. G V Joshi and Dr. Sudhir Raj K. Student Ashwini Kamath compeered the program.


Graduation Day at JKSHIM

The Graduation Ceremony of the XV Batch of MBA Program of the Institute was held on 12th July, 2014. Delivering the Convocation Address, Mr.Harish Hande, the Chairman, Selco Group of Companies, Bangalore, said that the country required inclusive growth which took all people along with it. He said that the country was 137th in the world as far as Human Development Index was concerned. The increasing disparity between the rich and the poor was a concern and this might even lead to social unrest in the future. The basics of any business were balancing financial sustainability and social sustainability and it is essential for MBA graduates to think not just about themselves but also about the welfare of the society, he said. Shri N. Vinaya Hegde Chancellor, Nitte University and President, Nitte Education Trust Presided over the function. The Trustees, Members of the Governing and Academic Council and Faculty Members were present on the occasion. Dr.K Sankaran, Director of the Institute delivered welcome address and presented the Annual Report and administered the Oath. Dr. R. Krishna Kumar presented the students for handing over of the certificates. Professor RadhaKrishna Sharma proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. Sudhir Raj K compeered the program.

27th IAP Paediatrics Quiz for Under-Graduates 2014 - KSHEMA

The Department of Paediatrics organized a Health Camp / Outreach Program, "27th IAP Paediatrics Quiz for Under-Graduates 2014" from 17-07-2014 to 17-07-2014 at K S Hegde Charitable Hospital. . 27th IAP Paediatrics Quiz for Under-Graduates 2014 The college round of 27th IAP Under-Graduate Paediatrics Quiz was held on 17.07.2014 by the department of Paediatrics, KSHEMA. Dr Sumanth Shetty, Professor, Department of Paediatrics welcomed the gathering.



Dr Sudarshan Shetty K, Professor, Department of Paediatrics coordinated and conducted the quiz. The participants belonged to the MBBS IX term. The first prize was won by the team of Mr Shreyas Samaga & Mr Suraj Gowda and the runners up prize was shared by Ms Anjuna K C & Ms Balika, & Ms Nishmitha & Ms Monisha. The winning team would go to the divisional round of the quiz to be held at KSHEMA on 22nd August, 2014. The cash prizes were sponsored by NITTE University. Dr Vijaya Shenoy, Prof & HOD of Paediatrics and Dr Sandeep Rai, Prof & HOD of Pediatric Surgery gave away the prizes.

FAREWELL FUNCTION OF STUDENTS FOR THE BATCH 2012-2014 - ITI

A Farewell function of students for the batch 2012-2014 was organized in the institute on 4th August 2014. Principal Sri Y.N.Salian presided over the function.In his presidential address he gave all information about all job opportunities and advised the trainees about the working principle of companies and industries. Training Program for Probationary Officers of Syndicate Bank at NIBF

Mr. I T Sethuraman, DGM Syndicate Bank, Regional Office, Mangalore inaugurated the four-week Induction training program for Probationary Assistant Managers of Syndicate Bank at Nitte Institute of Banking and Finance on 28th of July. Dr. N K Thingalaya, former CMD of Syndicate Bank presided over the function. He urged the new Bank entrants to be totally focused towards delivery of top class, friendly service to the Bank’s customers, true to the motto of the Bank. He also thanked the Nitte Education Group for the continued strong patronage to the Bank in the past few decades. He appreciated the pioneering contribution made by Nitte Institute of Banking & Finance in training and shaping the careers of thousands of budding bankers of the country in the past few years since inception. Syndicate Bank is the pioneer in many banking initiatives since its inception like pigmy deposit scheme, a doorstep banking service to collect small savings from the people. Syndicate Bank is also the first Bank to start Regional Rural Bank to serve rural masses, Dr. Thingalaya recalled during his presidential address. Dr. N S Shetty, a former United Nations banking expert, who was the guest of honor, emphasized the need to cultivate special skills that are required to succeed in the current day competitive banking regime, in his address to the participants. Orientation day at Nitte Institute of physiotherapy held on 04-08-2014

Nitte Institute of physiotherapy, Nitte university, conducted orientation day programme for newly joined (2014-15 batch ) BPT students. Sixty students and their parents were addressed by Principal Prof Dr Dhanesh kumar.k.u. and senior faculty’s Mr Ajith S, Mr Mahesh hegde, Ms Kavitha shetty. Students were given orientation in detail about course contents, basic science subjects, general rules, hostel rules, ragging prevention acts and other areas. Parents were also separate addressed by the faculty’s regarding quality measures adopted in our institution.

Vanamahothsava at MRSMEMS, Thokur

Vanamahothsava was celebrated on 26th July, 2014 in the school campus. ‘It is very important to take care of our environment and save the nature with its natural resources for the coming generation’ said the Guest of honour Mr. Y N Salian, Principal MRP ITI Thokur. Advisor for Green Belt Zone MSEZ , Mr. Dinesh Nayak , the Chief guest of the day shared his vast knowledge on the locally available plants and their medicinal values along with the pictures from his treasure of slides. PTA President, Dr. K Krishna said that celebration of Vnanamahothsava and planting saplings should not be a day’s programme . The plants and trees should be taken care of throughout the year

.  

Mrs. Sujatha Upadhyaya, PRT, spoke on the importance of the day. Principal of the school welcomed the gathering and the SPL proposed the vote of thanks. Miss Aakshanksha Pravesh Pai was the master of ceremony. Later guests and students planted the saplings of few fruit bearing tress and ornamental plants.
