NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME REPORT 2014-2015 - NSAMFGC Bengaluru

The NSS camp for the academic year 2014-2015 began on the 15th of December 2014 for a period of 7 days. Our NSS coordinator Appu Jadav sir organized the same at Koluvarayanhalli; A total of 41 students attended the camp. On the first day, we went to the village “Koluvarayanahalli” where the camp was held. As an auspicious start, we went to the Hanuman temple and prayed for the success of the camp. Later we cleaned the government school in which we were supposed to stay. In the evening there was a grand inauguration of the camp with our college principal Dr. Meera Krishnappa and College coordinator Colonel B.V Ramachandra Sir and the Village Panchayat heads Mr. Jayaramaiah, Mr. Jayaram, Mr. Munne Gowda, Mr. Kumar, and Mr. Krishnappa. After our dinner, all the students were divided into five groups for performing ther daily chores. The daily activities were the kitchen department, flag hoisting department, ground cleaning department, room cleaning department and stage preparation department.




On the second day 16/12/2014, all the students got ready by 6 am and assembled for the flag hoisting. It was presided by Mr. Jayaramaiah who is a senior citizen and Panchayat leader of the village. After the flag hoisting, we sang the National Anthem and the NSS song. One of our hoisting team members had to come up with some information which was to be followed by each student. After that we went for a long walk around the village. Later we had a nutritious breakfast and coffee. We then cleaned the surroundings in which we were residing. Our first priority was to clean the small temple on the premises which had been shut down for a long time. After our delicious lunch, we had a lecture session by Omkar Nayak Sir, who gave us a good insight on the value of time and how we have to use time in an optimum manner. In the evening, a cultural program was held. All the students indulged themselves in dance, songs and drama. The villagers had good entertainment.

On the third day, 17/12/2014, we started our day as usual with the flag hoisting by our chief guest Mr. Krishnappa. For our daily exercise, we played cricket and lagori and had good fun. We then cleaned the village. We did a good job and were appreciated. We had a lecture session by Sangayya sir about ‘Thought Process and Mind Mapping’ which was quite thought provoking.. On the fourth day, 18/12/2014, as usual there was the flag hoisting. After the flag hoisting, we had a special yoga session by Muniraj Guruji. He was brought by Prakash Sir. All the students had a good experience and felt fresh and lively after the yoga. On the third day of our cleaning the village, we had to clean the temple surroundings. The villagers were amazed at our work. In the evening, a traditional cultural program was arranged for the villagers. Janapada songs were sung by Thamburi Mallaya and team from Janapada Loka.




On the fifth day, 19/12/2014, the flag hoisting was presided by Prakash Sir, who introduced us to the Yoga guruji. On the request of Appu Jadav sir and Prakash sir, Muniraju guruji accepted to come for two more days and teach yoga to all the students. We were enlightened by his teachings. This was a special day as we planted saplings in and around the village, near the temple, dairy and school. Dr. Meera Krishnappa, the Principal visited the camp during the tree planting session and also planted a few saplings. A total of 102 saplings were planted. We had a lecture session by Brahma Kumari Bhuvaneshwari about Peace and Livelihood. In the evening there were cultural events. All the villagers gathered and were given full entertainment. The village children were also involved in various games and the winners were awarded with prizes as well.

On the sixth day, 20/12/2014, as a daily routine there was a flag hoisting by the chief guest Munne Gowda. Then we had Yoga for an hour. This was a very beneficial day for the villagers as there was a heart check up camp organized by Narayana Hrudayalaya along with M S Ramaiah Hospital. There were almost a hundred people who attended this camp and who were benefited. Dr. Meera Krishnappa, our Principal visited the camp and shared lunch with all of us. As this was our last day of stay in the village, a grand cultural program was arranged. All the students gave their best performance and entertained the people. A Rangoli Competition was organized for the ladies of the village. Many actively participated. At the end of the day we had a cake cutting celebration for the successful conclusion of the camp. We ended the day with a great fire camp.






On the 7th day 21/12/2014, the last day of the camp NMIT Principal Prof. Nagaraj Sir was our special guest at the Valediction, Both Prof. Nagaraj and our NSS coordinator Appu Jadav Sir were honuored by the villagers for their contribution. All the NSS volunteers were given a dictionary which was a mean to enrich our knowledge. Some of the students shared their experience then we went for a Walkathon carrying banners and shouting slogans to create awareness among the people to keep the village clean and green in line with the Prime Minister’s motto of ‘Swathcha Bharat’. This was a great experience. In the afternoon we had a delicious non-vegetarian lunch after which we bid farewell to all the villagers and headed back towards our respective homes. The NSS Camp has been a truly memorable experience in more ways than one. Interacting with the villagers and living there has taught us several lessons in humility, service, diligence and discipline. We thank our College Co-ordinator, Col. B.V Ramachandra, our Principal, Dr. Meera Krishnappa, and Mr. Appu Jadhav, our NSS Co-ordinator for organizing this camp.
