Orientation program - NGSMIPS

An orientation program for new admissions to B.Pharm, Pharm.D and Nursing courses for the year 2015-16 was held at the KSHEMA Auditorium on 3rd August 2015. The program was started with a prayer invoking blessings of the almighty followed by lighting of the lamp as a gesture of initiation to the noble process of imparting the light of knowledge to the new aspirants for a successful and fulfilling career. Inaugurating the program, Shri. N. Vinaya Hegde - The chancellor, Nitte University in his presidential address commended the principal, and staff of both the colleges for their continuing committed and dedicated efforts in shaping the future of the students. He thanked the parents for their wise choice to admit their wards to the Nitte group of Institutions and assured that all efforts are being taken to provide excellent research oriented academic ambiance and a learning experience that is safe, secure and rewarding. He also mentioned that with the commissioning of NUCSER - ‘Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research’ – a research initiative of the university, adjacent to the pharmacy college, the pharmacy students will have the opportunity to seek research guidance by way of regular interaction with the research staff and thus have an edge over their counterparts in other colleges.



The chancellor also said that Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences too has been the first choice of students in and around Mangalore aspiring to pursue nursing education, since the college offered the unique learning advantage of a theoretical training that is backed by the crucial and regular practical training and professional guidance in clinical aspects to the students through its own 1200 bed multi specialty hospital.

He also said that the management was committed to offer a motivating in-campus living experience with excellent hostel, library, and canteen facilities to the students residing on campus. Dr. C.S. Shastry-Principal of the pharmacy college in his usual captivating style introduced the dignitaries on the dais to the parents and the students. Dr. M. S. Moodithaya-Registrar, Nitte University presented a brilliant account of the progress, the Nitte education trust has witnessed since 1979 when it first started with a primary school in the home town of the founder-Justice K.S.Hegde, a legal luminary with a humanitarian philosophy of ‘Education and health care for all’. He said that today the trust manages 28 academic institutions each contributing considerably in shaping successful professionals and responsible citizens. He also shared that the university has acquired the Deemed University status and has been placed in the ‘A’ grade by MHRD, government of India and NAAC.



Dr. Shantaram Shetty-The Pro Chancellor, Nitte University, said that while it was the responsibility of the college and the teachers to help the students realize their career goals, it was equally important for the parents to keep a tab on the performance of their wards and also encourage and motivate them rather than reprimand and admonish for failures and mistakes.

Dr. Fathima D’Silva-Principal of the Nursing college delivered the vote of thanks.

Program was coordinated by Mrs Cleeta pinto, Principal, School of Nursing.

Dr. Indrani Karunasagar-Director NUCSER, Dr. Alka Kulkarni-Controller of Examinations, Dr.Rajshekar-Director Curriculum development, Dr. Narayana Charyulu Vice Principal of Pharmacy College and Mrs. Sabitha Vice princiapal of the Nursing college were the other dignitaries on the dais.
