Child Abuse Prevention - NUINS

Department of Child Health Nursing, NUINS has organized the awareness programme on “Child Abuse Prevention” on 19th November 2015 at Belma Deralakatte Aided LPS. Subin Maria Jacob, Lecturer along with Swathy, Assistant Lecturer and twelve III year BSc N students under the guidance of Sujatha R, HOD Department of Child Health Nursing organised the programme The awareness programme was held from 11:30-12:30 pm at the school hall. 150 children from first to fifth standard along with six teachers and two non- teaching staff benefitted from the programme. Programme consisted of Role Play followed by Health Talk in Kannada. Thereafter Focus Group Interview among 18 students from 5th standard was done by Swathy, as moderator and Eleena, III BSc (N) as assistant moderator. Students verbalized that they favored role-play and would like to have such awareness programme held hereafter, as it serves for their safety. They also suggested that awareness on child abuse needs to be given to parents and teachers. At the end of the programme, refreshment was given to the children.
