BCT machine inaugurated at ABSMIDS

A.B.Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Deralakatte, Mangalore (Constituent of Nitte University) is celebrating 30 years of Clinical and Academic Excellence. In keeping with the technological advances the state of art CONE BEAM CT was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) M Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Nitte University in the august presence of Prof. (Dr.) S Ramananda Shetty , Vice-Chancellor, Nitte University, Prof. Dr. M S Moodithaya, Registrar, Nitte University, Dr.(Mrs.) Indrani Karunasagar, Director, R&D at the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology. This state of art imaging facility is only available in Very few Centers across the Country.



Prof. (Dr.) Sridhar Shetty, Founder Dean, Prof.(Dr.) U S Krishna Nayak, Principal and Dean, Prof. (Dr.) Mithra N Hegde, Vice Principal and Prof. (Dr.) Subhas Babu, Head of the Oral Medicine Department were also present at the Occasion.

Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is the latest Dental Imaging Technique in the field of Dentistry that generates 3D images at a lower cost and absorbed dose compared with conventional Computed Tomography (CT). Today, much attention is focused on the clinical applications-Diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of CBCT in the various Dental disciplines. CBCT is a useful tool for imaging the craniofacial area that produces more realistic images that facilitate interpretation.
