Seminar on “Role of CADD in Drug Design and Development” - NGSMIPS

Computer Aided Drug Design (CADD) and Delivery System is computer-assisted techniques used to discover, design, and optimize new, effective, and safe drugs. The fundamental goal in drug design is to predict whether a given molecule will bind to a target and if so how strongly even before a compound is synthesized. Introduction of CADD accelerates every phase of drug discovery – conception through dispensation by saving enormous time and cost. A one day seminar on Computer Aided Drug Design and Development was organized by Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Paneer campus, on 26th November 2015. The seminar was sponsored by Nitte University, Deralakatte, Mangalore.

Dr. Evans Cutinho, Prof & HOD –Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Bombay College of Pharmacy spoke on “Methods in Molecular Modeling”, Dr. Mahesh B. Palkar, Associate prof. KLE College of Pharmacy, Hubli spoke on “Structure Based Drug Design”, and Dr. Balakrishna Kalluraya, Professor, Department of Organic Chemistry, Mangalore University spoke on “Principles and Application of IR Spectroscopy”. Dr. M.S.Moodithaya, Registrar, Nitte University inaugurated the seminar. Dr. C.S.Shastry, Principal, Dr. K. Ishwar Bhat, HOD, Pharmaceutical Chemistry were present.
