Nitte University Signs MoU - MPH - KSHEMA

Nitte University Signs MoU with University of Minnesota for Master of Public Health (MPH) Programme

Nitte University has signed a Memorandum of understanding with University of Minnesota School of Public Health, USA on Tuesday 8th March at the University enclave in Mangalore. This MoU would facilitate student exchange, faculty exchange, research and other academic programme collaborations within these universities. 

MPH students from department of public health, from Nitte University would get opportunity to visit summer school in twin cities campus at Minneapolis & St. Paul, Minnesota, USA every May and June. In order to strengthen public health academics and to have global public health, both the universities agreed to work in research collaborations in contextual issues in public health. Department of Public Health at Nitte is coming up with long term cohort study similar to Framingham heart study which will be taken up by masters and doctoral students for their academic research pieces.


Prof. Dr. S Ramananda Shetty, the Vice Chancellor, Prof, Dr Indrani Karunasagar, Director for research jointly signed with Prof. Brooks Jackson,​Vice President for Health Sciences, and Prof. Beth Virnig, Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research from university of Minnesota.

Prof. Dr. M. Shantharam Shetty, pro chancellor of Nitte University presided the ceremony.

Mr. Joe Wiesenberger, chief administrative officer from Minnesota university, Dr Hitakshi Sehgal, coordinator for Minnesota India programs,  Prof. Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, registrar, NU, Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, the dean of K S Hegde medical academy, Prof. Dr. Sudeep Kumar, head of the department of public health and senior officials of Nitte university and heads and senior officials of its constituent colleges were present during this ceremony.
