The Department of Community Medicine organized a Public Awareness Program, "World Health Day 2016" on 07-04-2016 at K.S Hegde Medical Academy.
This year the theme was Beat Diabetes. The function was inaugurated by the Pro Chancellor – Dr Shantharam Shetty. Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean of KSHEMA was the Guest of Honor. Dr Udaya Kiran, HOD delivered the welcome address. An android app on beating Diabetes, created by Dr. Sharon B was released during the function by the Pro Chancellor. The inaugural function was followed by a skit presentation by the final year Physiotherapy students, based on the complications of Diabetes and how to prevent them.
A series of Lectures were conducted by eminent resource speakers. Dr Ram Mohan Rao spoke on Diabetic Retinopathy and Dr Sudhindra Rao updated the audience about the recent trends in Diabetes management. Dr Nanjesh, delivered a lecture on epidemiology of noncompliance in Diabetes. IAPSM Quiz Final session was conducted in Lecture hall 5. Around 150 students and faculties from various Clinical and Non Clinical departments attended the program. Dr.Sanjay Kini, was the Quiz Master. The Post Graduates helped him throughout the contest. The quiz program was informative and interesting and the audience actively took part in the completion. At the end of the competition, all the doubtful answers were discussed by the quiz master. At the end of the competition, certificates were distributed by the Vice Dean.
