A health awareness talk on ‘Intoxicating drugs and drug abuse - KSHEMA

A health awareness talk on ‘Intoxicating drugs and drug abuse' was conducted on 28-08-2017 at Government Junior College, Bailur organised by Kowdoor Srinivasa Hegde Memorial Health Centre, Bailur under the Department of Public Health, KS Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, Mangalore. The resource person for the talk was Dr Sanjay Kini, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KS Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, Mangalore. The talk was attended by the students of Commerce section 1st PUC. There were 70 students in total. Dr Sanjay Kini, addressed the students about definition of substance abuse, magnitude of substance abuse in India, Classification of substance abuse, effects of smoking, alcohol and other psycho-active substances on the body and also showed few health education videos relevant to the topics of drug abuse. The talk was followed by interactive question and answer session.
