Nitte Cross Country 2017 was organised by Nitte Education Trust, Nitte in association with Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association, Udupi on 20th August 2017. Below given are the age categories in which the Cross Country competitions were held:
i) Under 15 Years, Boys & Girls
ii) Under 18 Years, Boys & Girls and
iii) Open category i.e., above 18 Years, Boys & Girls
Total 618 athletes from Udupi District had participated in the competitions. ‘Nitte Cross Country 2017’ was inaugurated by Mr. John D, Silva, Former National Cross Country Runner and President of John’s Sports & Cultural Academy, Karkala on 20th August 2017 at 7.00 A.M in the presence of Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT, Sri. A. Yogeesh Hegde, Registrar, NET, Sri. Balakrishna Hegde, Honorary President, Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association (UDAAA), Dr. Sankaran, Director, MBA, Dr. Mohan Hegde, Director, MCA, Dr. Ramesh I Mithanthaya, Vice Principal NMAMIT, Mr. Prashanth Kumar Holla, Principal, NRAMP, Mrs. Radha Prabhu, Principal, Dr. NSAM Senior Secondary School Mr. Aravind Hegde, Special Officer, NET, Mr. Raghuram Nayak, Executive President, UDAAA, Mr. Shyam Sundar M, Sports Administrator I/C, NET and Mr. Dinesh Kotian, Secretary, UDAAA. Sri.Ashok Adyanthaya, President, Udupi District Amateur Athletic Association presided over the function.
The prize distribution ceremony was helf at 9:30 AM. Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT, Sri A. Yogeesh Hegde, Registrar, NET, Sri Ashok Adyanthaya, President, UDAAA, Sri Balakrishna Hegde, Honorary President, UDAAA, Mr. John D, Silva, Former National Cross Country Runner, Dr. Ramesh I Mithanthaya, Vice Principal distributed the cash awards, mementos & Merit Certificates to the winners. Dr.NSAM First Grade College with 63 points bagged the overall championship of Nitte Cross Country 2017.
