Youth Red Cross Unit of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Constituent College of Nitte University organized an orientation cum Eye Donation awareness Program on 26th October 2017 at K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, Mangalore. Sri. M.K. Krishna State Convener, Eye Donation Subcommittee (Indian Red Cross Society) and Chairman Eye Bank Association Of India (South Zone) delivered the Keynote address with motivational message to the youth on service to society. He inspired the students quoting that contentment is the richest gift in life and urged the youth to make eye donation a family tradition. This was followed by an awareness talk on importance of eye, bone marrow, organ and cadaver donation blended with practical experiences and experiments. Dr. Vijay Pai, HOD Dept of Ophthalmology in his presidential address discussed on the functioning of the Eye Bank unit of K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital. Prof. Dr. Fatima D’Silva, Principal NUINS welcomed the gathering. Prof. Mrs.Sabitha Nayak, Vice principal NUINS proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Latha.S, Red cross coordinator compered the programme.
