The Central Research Lab, K.S Hegde Medical Academy in association with the National Institute of Health and Penn State University, USA organized a one day National Symposium on “Recent Advances in Malarial Research” on 24th February, 2018 at Lecture Hall 5, KSHEMA, Deralakatte. This symposium was aimed at improving the knowledge and skills to combat malaria in this region. The scientific program of the symposium encompassed all the major disciplines of malaria biology and allied areas. In addition, the symposium focused on some special frontline areas like drug resistance to malaria, placental malaria, immunology & pathophysiology, entomology, epidemiology and molecular biology of plasmodium infection. During the symposium 6 eminent speakers delivered lectures on different topics in Malaria. Several physicians from rural and urban areas across Mangaluru attended the symposium and shared their experiences with the research fraternity during the panel discussions.
