PTA General Body Meeting 2018-19 - MRSMEMHS

PTA plays an important role in the smooth functioning of an institution. The first General Body Meeting for the academic year 2018-19 was held on 23rd June, 2018.

Dr. Geetha Sharath, a Homeopathy doctor and counselor from Surathkal was the Guest of Honor. She addressed the gathering on “Healthy Parenting” and spoke about the food & sleeping habits, study, recreation and social skills of children. She complimented AISSE toppers of Class X.

Ms. N Aditi, was felicitated by the PTA for securing the highest marks in AISSE. The program ended with the singing of the National Anthem.

Three Days Training on AI/DL using NVIDIA server - NMAMIT

NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte had procured an NVIDIA server for the purpose of learning & research related to Artificial intelligence and Deep learning. In connection with this, the Department of Information Science and Engineering had organized a training program recently in the campus. Dr. Sathyadhyan Chickerur, Professor, KLE Technological University and Mr. Bharath, NVIDIA were the resource persons for the program. Ms. Ashwini B coordinated the workshop. Training was conducted for faculties of NMAMIT.




The program was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar on 11th June, 2018. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the new and emerging trends of machine learning resource provided by the college and the need to carry out research in this area. Mr. Unnikrishnan A.R, Director, Business Development highlighted the usage of NVIDIA server in AI/DL.

The first day of the program had sessions related to theory of machine learning and the algorithms used in data analysis. On the second day, there was a demonstration of working on machine learning algorithms using the NVIDIA server. A demo was given using digits framework to classify various images. This was initially demonstrated using Amazon cloud server and then the same experiments were made using the college server. Dr.L.M. Patnaik, Adjunct Professor, IISc, Bangalore enlightened the participants with the uses & applications of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning in his talk.

The third day discussions included the demo related to machine learning experiments and CUDA programming. The sessions concluded with a discussion of the possible syllabus that can be floated to the UG students.

FRONIUS CENTRE FOR WELDING TECHNOLOGY - NMAMIT

A one-day workshop on “Welding for Maintenance” organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering will be held on 28th June 2018, at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte. The workshop is to coincide with the inauguration of a newly established welding laboratory, “NMAMIT- Fronius Centre for Welding Technology” built in association with Fronius India Pvt. Ltd.

The welding laboratory has been set up with the latest equipments to provide the contemporary welding skills to students and to youth of the region. The laboratory is equipped with a welding simulator, to train students on various welding processes without consuming material and without fumes.

The resource persons for the workshop include highly experienced resource personnel from Indian Welding Society; Fronius India Pvt. Limited and NMAMIT.

Orientation Program June 2018 - NSAMPUC, Mangalore

Under the auspices of the Career Guidance Cell, a week-long orientation program was held for the first year students. Students were made aware of the job opportunities, variety of disciplines available under Science and Commerce streams. Talks on career opportunities in tourism and travelling and activity oriented skill-development workshop were also held.

Dr. Carmelita, Prof. Udaykumar, Mr. Melvin Castelino, Miss. Jane Mathais, Mr. Nikhil Hegde, Mr. Deon D'souza, Mr. M.R.Vasudeva, Mr. Sathish Maben, Mrs. Harina.J.Rao, Mrs. Apolin Mendonsa took part in the program as resource persons.

Swami Jithakamanandaji, the President of Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore gave a talk on Human values, moral and social responsibilities of students.




Atal Tinkering Lab inaugurated @ Nitte - NSAM English Medium School

Dr. Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial English Medium School has been selected by the Government of India for setting up the Atal Tinkering Lab. Rs.12 lakhs for setting up the lab and in 4 years Rs. 8 lakhs will be provided over a period of 4 years by the Government of India.

The Atal Tinkering lab at Nitte was inaugurated on 22nd June, 2018 by Sri N. Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University) & President, Nitte Education Trust.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Hegde said that the students should use the facilities provided in the lab to become good innovators.

The lab was set up under the able guidance of Dr. Suryanarayan, Asst. Professor, NMAMIT and a group of engineering students. At present the lab is exhibited with Sound Detectors, Dancing Robot, Mechanical Engines, Bluetooth car and many more science based models.

Vanamahotsava - MRSMEMHS

On 21st June, 2018 the school celebrated Vanamahotsava by planting trees in the school campus. Mr. C K Mathew, the Deputy Range Forest Officer, Kinnigoli branch, Moodbidri region was the Chief guest of the day. Around 150 saplings were donated by them and some were planted in the campus and rest of the saplings were given to the students who were a part of Eco-School Project. Mr. Mathew in his speech urged the need of planting and preserving trees. PTA President, Mr. Deviprasad Shetty was present on the occasion.


Yoga Day celebrated - MRSMEMHS

The International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the school on 21st June, 2018. The school organized mass yoga demonstration for students, teachers and parents led by Mrs. Asha R Kamath. Mrs. Jayanthi Gadiyar spoke on the importance of Yoga Day. PTA President, Mr. Deviprasad Shetty was present during the occasion.

International Yoga day celebration - NGSMIPS

The NSS Unit of NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences organised the International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2018. Dr. Rashmitha Alva, Lecturer, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy was the Chief guest. Welcoming the guest and the staff, the Principal, Dr. C. S. Shastry explained the importance of yoga and stated that yoga is more relevant today than ever before because yoga has been proven scientifically and has been internationally acclaimed to possess the amazing power to calm and soothe the stressed mind, body and the soul due to the erratic life style that we are all exposed to.






Later, Dr. Rashmitha Shetty guided the gathering to perr>form a few aasanaas which was much appreciated. The NSS Program officer, Dr. Santanu Saha delivered the Vote of thanks.

Students' Council Inauguration, NSAMPUC, Mangaluru

Keeping informed of the latest developments should be the priority of the students, said Sri. M.R.Vasudeva, former Director of Mangalore Airport. He was addressing students after inaugurating the Students' Council for the academic year 2018-19. After administering the oath of office to the newly elected office bearers, Mr. Vasudeva urged the students to develop skills to equip themselves to meet the challenges of life. The President of Students' Council, Ankith Shetty welcomed the gathering, while Pooja Shetty, the Secretary proposed the Vote of thanks. Prof. S.N.Bhat presided over the function.


World Environment day -NSAMPUC, Mangaluru

World Environment day was observed on 5th June, 2018 . A talk was delivered on the hazardous consequences of mindless use plastic bags and materials. Waste materials around the college campus was collected by the students, to maintain a plastic- free zone.

International Yoga Day - NSAMPUC, Mangaluru


Yoga-Day was observed on 21st June 2018. Renowned Yoga teacher, Yogarathna Gopalakrishna Delampady inaugurated the  Yoga-Camp for the students and staff. In his inaugural address,  he spoke at length, regarding the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga. A practical session on relaxation techniques and Sooryanamaskar was held.



International Yoga Day - MRP ITI

International Yoga Day and a “10 day Yoga-camp” was jointly organized by N.S.S. wing, M.R.Punja ITI, Patanjali Yoga Samithi, D.K. and NET Rovers on 21st June, 2018 at M.R.Punja ITI, Tapovana, Thokur.

The program was inaugurated by Vidwan Vinayaka Bhat Galimane, Head, Dept. of Sanskrit, Alva’s college, Moodabidri. Addressing the gathering, he said “Eternal peace is more important than temporary pleasure. Yoga is the treasure for permanent happiness. One who is on the path of achievement is called Yogic man”. He also stressed that yoga is not only meant for physical exercise but also to explore how to control mind, body and soul. He called upon students to practice yoga to maintain healthy life.





Mr. Jaya Muddu Shetty, Yoga Guru, Yogopasana, Kenchanakere, appreciated the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi for declaring 21st June as ‘International Yoga day’ and for making Indians proud.

Mr. Y. N.Salian, Principal introduced the Chief guest and welcomed the gathering. Mr. Raghavendra Rao, Yoga Teacher was felicitated by the delegates on this occasion. Mr. Vishwanath Rao delivered the introductory speech. Mr. Laxmikanth, Training Officer and Mr. Uday Kumar, Office Superintendent were present. Mr. Harishchandra recited the prayer, Mr. Hari H. anchored the program. Mr. Suresh S. proposed the Vote of thanks. The teaching & non teaching staff, NSS and Rover volunteers and students of MRPITI participated in the program.

Tribute to great legendary - N.S.A.M. English Medium High School, Nitte

The 109th birth anniversary of the founder, Late Justice K.S. Hegde, was celebrated by offering flowers and singing devotional hymns at his memorial tomb in ‘Sadananda’.




International Yoga Day at Nitte

“Yoga - the culmination of Indian culture and spirituality should be a way of life rather than a one day celebration. We should practice yoga regularly to counter the chaos around us. It should not be just a day, but a way of life” opined Prof.(Dr.) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University). He explained  the benefits of yoga and how we need to inculcate yoga practice in our life, during the celebration of International Yoga Day organised by NSS Nitte Wing on 21st June 2018 at 7am.

Prof. (Dr.) Iddya Karunasagar, Sr. Director, International Relations, Nitte (Deemed to be University) who has been practicing yoga for more than 45 years and Mr. Nhehern Acharya, III BPT, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy, gold medal winner in Artistic Display Yoga Competition for 2 consecutive years (Malaysia & Argentina) organised by the International Yoga Federation were felicitated on this occasion.

The NSS wing of Nitte University organised the International Yoga Day at  K S Hegde Hospital Campus. Dr. Alka Kulkarni in her welcome address gave an overview of the significance of this day and how our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi took an active lead to promote yoga at the international level.


Staff and students attended the program and performed yoga under the guidance of Mrs. Rashmitha, Yoga instructor, NIPT. Dr. P S Prakash, Dean, K S Hegde Medical Academy rendered the Vote of thanks. Heads of the constituent institutions of Nitte University, Dr. Dhanesh, Principal, NIPT; Dr. J P Shetty, Registrar, KSHEMA; Dr Mithra Hegde, Vice Dean, ABSMIDS; Dr. Vinod Aranha, Director, NIA; Mr. Raviraj Head, NICO; NSS Co-ordinator,  Dr. Sumalatha Shetty and NSS Program Officers actively participated in  the function.








Free Dental Treatment Camp at Sathya Sai Hospital, Alike - ABSMIDS

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with the International College of Dentists conducted a free dental treatment camp at Sathya Sai Hospital, Alike on 18th June, 2018.

The team was headed by Dr. Ayshath Sharmina Sherin.

A total of 25 patients were screened during the camp, out of which 13 patients had undergone extraction; 1 patient - GIC restoration, 3 patients - temporary restoration, and 5 patients were referred to the dental college.

Dental screening camp at Primary Health Centre – Boliyar - ABSMIDS

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with the International College of Dentists, conducted a free dental check up camp for pregnant women at Primary Health Centre, Boliyar on 14.06.2018. The team was headed by Dr. Ayshath Sharmina Sherin. Oral health education and dental checkup was done for 3 pregnant women.

The International Yoga Day - ABSMIDS

The International Yoga Day was celebrated on the 21st June, 2018 at Vimshathi Bhavan, A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Deralakatte. Yogarathna Sri. Gopalkrishna Delampady addressed the gathering, explaining the preparations, the pose of asanas, physical and mental benefits of each asana. He motivated the students and staff to practice yoga and thus bring about a change in their lifestyle. The event was presided by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary and Registrar, Prof. Dr. Alka Kulkarni, Nitte (Deemed to be University). Vice Principal, Prof. Dr. Mithra N. Hegde welcomed the gathering.

Internship Program DROTTNING BLANKA HIGH SCHOOL, SWEDEN - NITTE

A team of 11 students and 2 faculty members from Drottning Blanka High School, Sweden visited Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences for an Internship program from 30th April to 18th May 2018. Students were posted in various departments of Justice K.S Hegde Charitable Hospital. Students had hands-on experience to re-demonstrate the procedure on ET tube insertion at NUMEDISIM under the guidance of Dr. U.S Raveendra. The students had witnessed normal delivery which was a good learning experience in their nursing field.

The students also visited all the constituent colleges of Nitte University and the Engineering and Management colleges at Nitte and Gajaria Hospital.

World Blood Donor Day at K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte

Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, Blood Bank in association with Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), Assaigoli, Mangalore, and NSS unit, Nitte ( Deemed to be University) celebrated “World Blood Donor Day” on June 14th, 2018. To mark this occasion, voluntary blood donation camp was conducted at JKSHCH, Blood Bank. Mr. Sharath, Assistant Commandant KSRP and Dr. Sumalatha Shetty, Professor, Anaesthesiology and Chief Coordinator of NSS Unit, Nitte (Deemed to be University) inaugurated the camp by donating blood.

Poster presentation and Blood Donation awareness programs were organized in the OPD block of the hospital by Blood Bank staff, medical and dental students.

Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University); Dr. P S Prakash, Dean, KSHEMA and Dr. Jayaprakash Shetty, Vice Dean and Head, Department of Pathology were present on this occasion.
