The Women’s forum of A.B.Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with the Gender Sensitization Cell, Nitte (Deemed to be University) conducted a workshop on GENDER SENSITIZATION on 9th June, 2018 at Vimshathi Bhavan, ABSMIDS.
The resource person of the program was Mrs. Preetham Kamath who explained that gender sensitizing is about instilling empathy into the views that we hold about our own and the other genders. It involves creating awareness about gender issues and working towards & creating an environment of gender justice where men and women can work together with a sense of personal security and dignity. The program was an interactive session with the audience raising their opinions and concerns.
Faculty members, postgraduates, interns and undergraduates actively participated in the program. Six students spoke on various topics relating to gender sensitization. Prof.(Dr.)Vabitha Shetty & Prof.(Dr.)Darshana Devadiga moderated the student’s session.
Prof.(Dr.)Mithra N Hegde, Vice Principal presided over the function. Prof.(Dr.)Shailaja Moodithaya, Chairperson of the Gender Sensitization Cell, Nitte (Deemed to be University) was the guest of honour. Prof. (Dr). Amitha Ramesh, President of Women’s Forum welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person. Dr. Chethana delivered the Vote of thanks.
