A National Training Program on Digital Marketing for Agribusiness - JKSHIM



A National Training Program on Digital Marketing for Agribusiness Agriculture is a complex profession. Every stage involves difficulties and challenges. Risks are a part of agricultural activity as well as agribusiness. Despite these factors coming in the way, agriculture and agribusiness has to survive and progress. Agribusiness activity primarily depends on agriculture. Unfortunately, agricultural activity is seasonal in character and uncertainty is packed in this sector since time immemorial.

In a modern digital high tech world, the digital tools are at our service. People with expertise in these tools and their applications in agrimarketing, can go a long way in making agribusiness sustainable. This context made us choose the theme “Digital Marketing for Agribusiness”. In this phrase, there are three key words, Digital, Marketing, and Agribusiness. All these require separate treatment and a clear understanding, said Dr. Ramesh Mittal, Director, National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur. He was inaugurating the two day Nitte National Training Program on Digital Marketing for Agribusiness, jointly organized by the Institute and the National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur (NIAM) on 25th September 2018. Dr. Mittal said NIAM has a goal to double the income of the farmers as early as possible. The Digital tools can be easily applied to achieve this. The agriculturists and agripreneurs have been trained by the NIAM. The core competency of farmers need to be tapped properly. The time has come to have a good network with the stakeholders of the agricultural sector and agribusiness. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT, Nitte called upon agripreneurs to comply with the market discipline. He argued for ICT to apply to the agricultural sector and to agribusiness. Shri. B R Hiremath, DGM, Syndicate Bank, Zonal Office, Udupi, called upon the youth to take up agripreneurship with passion and commitment. Presiding over the function, Dr. K Sankaran, the Director of the Institute, highlighted social entrepreneurship for quick progress of India. Dr. A. P. Achar, Dean, Corporate Programs of the Institute welcomed and briefed the audience about the program. Around 40 agripreneurs from all over India participated in the meet. There were parallel sessions on topics like Introduction to Digital Marketing for Agribusiness, Web Analytics / E-commerce Strategy, Digital Marketing, Integration of Sales Platform on Digital Channels, Supply Chain Digital Trends in Agribusiness and Transforming Customer Experience through Digital Tools. Dr. Ramesh Mittal, Dr. Sasirekha, Mr. Srikanth Pati, Mr. Kishor Jagirdar, Mr. Sudhir Madugiri acted as the resource persons. Dr. Sudhir Raj K co-ordinated the program. Sr’jana, the Cultural Association of the Institute staged a cultural program with the theme ‘Art to Heart’ on the occasion of the National Meet.

Valedictory Program

Capt Ganesh Karnik, Ex MLC, Govt. of Karnataka, delivered the valedictory address. Prof. Yogeesh Hegde, Registrar , NET campus was the Guest of Honour. Director of the Institute, Dr. K. Sankaran presided over the program. Dr.A.P. Achar, Dean - Corporate Programs, moderated the deliberations. Certificates were distributed to all the 40 delegates. Dr.Sudhir Raj K, Professor and Co-ordinator, proposed the Vote of thanks.
