The 4th Annual Day of Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER) was held on Thursday, 4th April 2019 at KSHEMA Auditorium. Mr. Jayprakash Rao K, Former Regional PRO of DRDO and currently the zonal chairman of Public Relations Council of India (South) was the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Indrani Karunasagar, Director (R & D) of the University presided over the function.
Mr. Francis Kean, the general secretary of the student’s council, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, the Deputy Director of the institute read out the annual report for the year 2018-19 and highlighted the achievements of the staff and students in the previous year.
In his address, the chief guest Mr. Jayprakash Rao, emphasized on the concept of Make in India and spoke on how the younger generation could make important contribution in shaping the future of the nation. He urged the students to imbibe the concept of Nationalism and work towards the development of the nation. Mr. Rao gave ample references of his association with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in the capacity of his personal PRO and he even presented the audience a glimpse of Dr. Abdul Kalam’s life and his journey as the President of India in the form a short video. He handed over two biographies of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam written by him in Kannada to the Director of the institute.
Dr. Indrani Karunasagar, in her presidential address, highlighted the strides that NUCSER has taken in the field of research and innovation. She also stressed on the importance of research in every field of science and motivated the students to do well in their career. She cited her examples on her pursuit in the field of science and talked about how one should carry on undeterred towards the final goal. Prof. Smitha Hegde, the faculty in charge of the student welfare committee, proposed the vote of thanks. On this occasion, the esteemed guests released the college magazine titled “ANVESHAN”. The dignitaries also gave away the prizes to the winners in academic, cultural and sports events that were held at the Institute. The students who won academic recognitions at National and State Level were also felicitated. A cultural program put up by the staff and students of the institute followed the formal function.
