Independence Day and Vanamahotsava were celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at the College Grounds amidst staff, students and members of the Lions club, Ashok Nagar on 15th August 2019.
Brigadier IN Rai (Retd.) the Chief guest; President of Lions Club, Ashok Nagar Ln. Babitha Lokesh, the guest of honor; Principal Dr. Naveen Shetty K; Vice Principal Annapoorna Naik; Treasurer of Lions club, Ashok Nagar Ln. Prajwala Shetty was escorted by the Physical Director Mr. Vidyadhar Takoor and student Sports Secretary, Mr. Shashank to the flag pole.
Ms. Rashmi, a student of II year Science welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Sangeetha Shetty, Lecturer in Statistics introduced the guests.
The chief guest unfurled the tricolor and commemorated the sovereignty of our nation. Shruthi, II year Science shared her views on the significance of the day. The chief guest apprised the audience of the long and consistent efforts put in by the Indian soldiers. He urged the students to nurture and care for the environment, be the eco warriors for water conservation and fight for the law of the land . He emphasized on respecting the living and honoring the dead. Guest of honor Ln. Babitha Lokesh spoke on the importance of Vanamahothsava. Principal Dr. Naveen Shetty K appealed to the students to realize their duties and responsibilities towards one’s motherland by leading a disciplined life. The program witnessed the plantation drive by planting a variety of saplings, sponsored by the Lions club, Ashok Nagar. Ln. MS Rao sponsored a part of the education fees of a financially under-privileged student. Lions club distributed sweets to the gathering. Mrs. Meera Crasta, Lecturer in Chemistry proposed the vote thanks while Mrs. Suman, Lecturer in Computer Science organized the program.
