The Orientation Program for the students admitted to B.Sc program of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences was held on 1st August 2019 at the University Auditorium, Paneer campus Deralakatte. 100 B.Sc Nursing students along with their parents attended the program.
Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte DU presided over the program.
The program began with a prayer invoking blessings from the almighty and was followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. Neetha Kamath, Assoc. Professor delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests. The Principal, Prof. Dr Fatima D Silva congratulated the students for joining the nursing course and explained about the remarkable progress made by the institute since its inception in 1992. She emphasized on the holistic learning environment, supported by state of the art labs and classrooms, well stocked library and thoroughly experienced faculty. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, in his presidential remark, spoke about the genesis of Nitte group of institutions. He said, besides being a skill based profession, nursing also requires compassion, courage and empathy. Referring to a recent unfortunate incident, he appreciated the exemplary courage and empathy shown by one of the alumnus of the college who saved the life of a young girl. The Vice-Principal, Prof. Dr. Sabitha Nayak delivered the vote of thanks and Mrs. Josmitha compered the program.
