Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences organized a two-day workshop on “Enhancing Research Competence” on 18th & 19th December 2019 at NUINS Learning Center. Dr. Sucharitha Suresh, Professor & Statistician, Fr. Muller Medical College, Mangalore was the Chief Guest. Dr. Prof. Fatima D`silva presided over the function.
The scientific topic for the forenoon session on Day 1 was “Standardization of research tools and sample size calculation & reliability testing”. These topics were dealt with by Dr. Sucharitha Suresh. The post-lunch session began with the topic “Application of Biostatistics” and hands-on training on “SPSS Software” by Dr. Neevan D Souza, Assoc. Professor, Biostatistics, KS Hegde Medical Academy.
The morning session of Day 2 covered “Overview of Systematic Review and PICO” by Dr. Judith A Noronha, Professor & Associate Dean, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal and “Search strategies for systematic review” by Dr. Baby S Nayak, Professor, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal.
The post-lunch session was on “Assessing the risk of bias” by Dr. Judith A Noronha, followed by the last scientific session by Dr. Baby S Nayak on “Reporting of systemic review.”
Dr. Prof. Jacintha Veigas, Coordinator for Staff development, NUINS was the Organizing Secretary for the workshop. 43 delegates benefited from this workshop.
