The Department of Community Medicine KSHEMA in association with Sasihitlu Rural Health and Training Centre organized an awareness program on cancer on 25th February 2020 as part of the World Cancer Day. Dr. Rashmi Kundapur, Professor of Community Medicine, Dr.Indushekar Shetty, Medical Officer Sasihitlu RHTC and interns Jay Anam, Karan Khatri and Pranav Sunil were the Speakers.
The program focused on spreading awareness of cervical cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, oral cancer, liver and gastrointestinal cancer. Dr. Rashmi Kundapur spoke about early diagnosis & treatment and Dr Indushekar Shetty spoke about signs, symptoms and also early diagnosis of cancer. Intern Jay Anam spoke about cancer in general, easily detectable cancers like cervical cancer, oral cancer and breast cancer. The resource persons spoke in the local language using simple words for better understanding. Around twenty villagers attended the function and said that it improved their understanding of cancer.
The program was moderated by Santosh N.P, Social Worker, Department of Community Medicine.
