News from KSHEMA | CME / Symposium

The Department of Forensic Medicine organized a CME / Symposium, "Curriculum Implementation Support Programme in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology" on 22nd February 2020 at the Medical Education Unit, K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte.

The program was conducted along the lines of MEU workshops with appropriate group activities for better understanding of topics. Dr Prateek Rastogi spoke briefly on Competency Based Medical Education (CBME), Dr Nagesh KR and Dr Arun M demonstrated deriving of learning objectives and aligning Teaching-Learning methods with SLOs. Dr Nagesh KR also gave a quick account of the challenges he faced while preparing the time-table for CBME curriculum and gave valuable inputs to participants in this regard. Dr Vrinda Bhat explained the guidelines for conducting formative and summative assessment as per the new curriculum. The resource persons were lauded for their efforts and simplified presentations.

This was followed by a panel discussion wherein many relevant issues pertaining to CBME implementation were raised and discussed. The panel discussion was moderated by Prof (Dr) Francis Monteiro, HoD, Forensic Medicine , AJIMS.

A total of 26 participants attended the programme. Prof.(Dr) Uday Kumar, Medical Superintendent of Father Muller Charitable Hospital, Mangaluru was the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr Jayaprakash Shetty K, Vice-Dean KSHEMA, presided over the function and Dr Mahabalesh Shetty, HoD welcomed the gathering.
