The Department of Psychiatry, KSHEMA, organized a 3- day Train the Trainers program for the staff of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruthi Vedike, Belthangady from 27th to 29th February 2020. The program was inaugurated by the resource person for the day,Dr. P V Bhandary, Director, Dr. A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi who spoke on institution v/s community treatment approaches. Dr Satheesh Rao, HoD, Psychiatry welcomed everyone. Mr. Vivek Vincent Pais, Director/Secretary of Akhila Karnataka Jana Jagruthi Vedike spoke on the purpose and intention of organizing this training. Different topics were dealt by different resource persons through lectures, group activities, debate, quiz, role-play related to comprehensive management of Substance Use Disorder with special focus on Alcohol Disorder. Other than faculty from the Dept. of Psychiatry, KSHEMA, Dr. Ravichandra Karkal from the Dept. of Psychiatry, Yenepoya Medical College, Dr Neela Bhamy Shenoy from the Dept. of Psychiatry, A J Institute of Medical Sciences, Mr. Joslyn Lobo Associate Professor, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru and members from Alcoholic Anonymous, Narcotic Anonymous participated as resource persons. The program concluded with a valedictory ceremony at 3 pm on 29th February 2020. Dr L H Manjunath, Executive Director of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, Belthangady was the Chief Guest. Dr Satheesh Rao presided over the function. Dr Shrinivasa Bhat welcomed the guests. Ms Suman Pinto proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Agneita Aiman compered the program. 30 people participated in the program.
