Three schools win Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Awards

Alva's Kannada Medium High School, Puttige was conferred the Dr. Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Best school Award 2020 in a glittering Award Ceremony held at the KS Hegde Auditorium, Nitte University Campus on 3rd March 2020. The Prize consisted of a Plaque and Cash prize of Rs. 15 Lakhs. Vivekananda High School, Tenkila received the second prize of Rs. 10 Lakhs. Navajeevan Higher Secondary School, Perdala won a special prize of Rs. 3 Lakhs for Kasaragod district. Dr. H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Justice N. Santosh Hegde, former Lokayukta of Karnataka presented the awards to the winners. The Chancellor of Nitte University Sri. Vinaya Hegde presided over the program. Pro Chancellors Dr. Shantaram Shetty and Sri. Vishal Hegde, Vice Chancellor Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. S Moodithaya and Registrar Dr. Alka Kulkarni were present on the occasion.

The Dr. Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial Best School Awards were constituted in 2016 with the objective of recognizing rural Kannada medium schools excelling in all spheres of education. Schools in the three districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod were evaluated on the performance of students in 10th Standard examinations, achievements in sports, cultural activities, school infrastructure and innovative educational practices. The Award Committee was headed by Justice N. Santosh Hegde, Former Judge of Supreme Court of India and Former Lokayukta of Karnataka and included representatives of the District Offices of Public instruction / Education.
