News from Medical Education Unit KSHEMA | PG Orientation Program

The Medical Education Unit and COVID Task Force, KSHEMA conducted an online event to orient the new postgraduate students of 2020 batch to the structure and functioning of the institution from 8th to 11th July 2020. 98 students attended the program. 

Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte DU inaugurated the program. There were focussed sessions on Introduction to Nitte DU, Orientation to KSHEMA, Hospital Policies, Hospital Layout, Antibiotic Policy, Infection Control Practice, Prescription Practice, Writing the Laboratory Request, Electronic Medical Records and Fire Safety. 

COVID Task Force conducted a special COVID training, with sessions on Introduction to COVID, Functioning of Fever Clinic, Triage of Patients, Donning and Doffing of PPE, Sample Collection for RT-PCR and Management of COVID-19. Dr. Bhandary briefed about Nitte DU and highlighted the importance of research. Dr. PS Prakash, Dean, KSHEMA welcomed the students and explained the rules and regulations of the institution. Dr. Shivakumar Hiremath, Medical Superintendent, JKSHCH highlighted the hospital policies. While Dr. Kishan Prasad H L, Coordinator, Medical Education Unit welcomed the participants, Dr. Sripad G Mehendale, Professor & Head, Anaesthesiology & Critical Care for COVID Task Force, proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. (Dr) Sumalatha Shetty, Dept. of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA was the master of ceremony.
