The Department of Psychiatry, KS Hegde Medical Academy, organized a Family Meet on 5th March, 2022, for patients and their families who were treated for de-addiction and are maintaining abstinence. The Meet was inaugurated by Dr. P. Ananthakrishna Bhat, Rtd. Professor and founder of Bala Samrakshana Kendra, Mangaluru. Dr. Ananthakrishna Bhat, in his inaugural address, stressed the importance of follow-ups and the role of the family in de-addiction.
Major Dr Shivakumar Hiremath, Medical Superintendent, Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital, presided over the function. The resource person Dr. Virupaksha Deveramane, Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. AV Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi, and Dr. Jonathan L, Sr. Resident, Dept. of Psychiatry, were part of the de-addiction program.
