The Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, ABSMIDS in association with the Interns Academic Club conducted a CDE and Professional Development Program on Tobacco Cessation Interventions for Dental Healthcare Professionals on 10th November 2022. The program began with an invocation to the almighty by Dr. Shama BS.
Prof. (Dr.) US Krishna Nayak delivered the presidential address and Prof. (Dr.) Mithra N Hegde addressed the gathering. Prof. (Dr.) Vidya Ajila, HoD spoke about the importance of tobacco cessation for patients and welcomed the resource person and delegates.
Prof. (Dr.) Subhas Babu introduced the speaker of the day and resource person, Dr. Jagannath P, Tobacco Cessation Consultant from Bangalore.
Dr Jagannath addressed the gathering and had a detailed discussion regarding tobacco cessation practices and protocols with the members of Institutional Tobacco Cessation Centre of ABSMIDS. Patient motivation for tobacco cessation and functioning of the Tobacco Cessation Centre in the institution was also discussed. This was followed by role plays and an elaborate Question & Answer session.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ananya Madiyal. Dr. Supriya Bhat was the Master of ceremonies. 174 delegates consisting of 33 faculty, 14 external delegates and 127 interns from ABSMIDS and neighbouring institutions participated in the program.
