News from MRSMEMHS | SAMVEDANA

Science Paper Presentation Competition ‘SAMVEDANA’ was organized by Dr. M Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School on behalf of Karavali Sahodaya Schools on 3rd November, 2022. The competition aimed at inculcating research and analytical skills among the adolescents. 

26 CBSE & ICSE schools participated from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada Districts and presented 54 papers. Juniors presented on ‘Climate Change and its Impact on Coastal Karnataka’ and the seniors on ‘Carbon Neutrality’. 

The program was inaugurated by Dr. K V Rao, Director, Pilikula Regional Science Centre, Mangalore. In his address Dr. Rao said “Observation, disproval of existing theories and asking questions are the keys for developing scientific temperament”. He congratulated the Principal for taking up a research-based competition. 

Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director, Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research, Mangalore said “Quality of science education provided at foundational level decides future of a country”. He expressed his happiness for organizing a competition on aspects of environment. 

Dr. Srinikethan, Director, Technical, Nitte University was present on the occasion. The valedictory function was presided over by Dr Praveenkumar Shetty, Director (Research & Development) Nitte University, Mangalore. He said “curiosity and focus are pre-requisites for research and to dream high”. 

Distributing prizes, Mrs. Anuradha Shivaram, Principal of Manipal School, Mangalore assured that the journey of Science Paper Presentation competition would continue through Karavali Sahodaya in the coming years. 

Mr. Sathyajith K T, HoD, Physics, NMAMIT, Nitte opined that competition of such kind is nothing but celebrating curiosity, problem solving and cultivation of skills. 

Principal of the host school, Mrs. Shreelatha Rao said “Channelizing energy in research at a tender age makes students look at science not as a subject but a technique to understand daily life phenomena”.

Second Place: Madhava Kripa English Medium High School, Manipal
Third Place: Lourdes Central School, Mangalore

Senior Category:
First Place: Dr. NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte
Second Place: Sri Sathya Sai Lok Seva High School, Alike
Third Place: Jnana Ganga Central School, Bellare
