The tournament held at the BC Alva Indoor Stadium in Deralakatte was inaugurated by Dr. MS Moodithaya, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte University. In his inaugural address, he emphasized that good health is attainable through sports and extracurricular activities. He asserted, “It is not important how much money we earn in our life. By getting involved in sports as an extracurricular activity, we can gain good health, mental relaxation, determination and self-confidence. Sports give us inner joy that money cannot provide. Sportsmanship serves as a model for our lives and helps us achieve good health.”
The event was presided over by Dr. Naveen Shetty, Principal of the hosting college. He emphasized the transformative power of a balanced mind in converting opportunities into success. He stressed that participation in sports is more important than winning or losing and that valuable life lessons such as teamwork, adaptability and resilience can be learned through sports, contributing significantly to personality development.
The Tournament saw enthusiastic participation from students, both boys and girls, representing more than twenty-five colleges.
