Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy organized a Pre-Conference Workshop on ‘Shoulder Dysfunctions’ by renowned speaker Dr. J Mohanakrishnan, Physiotherapist, JIPMER, Puducherry, on 7th September 2023.
63 delegates from Physiotherapy Colleges of Mangalore, Bangalore and Maharashtra participated in the workshop. The pre-conference workshop was a run-up to Mangalore Physiocon 2023.
Dr. UT Iftikar Ali, Chairman of Mangalore Physiocon 2023 was the Guest of Honour. Addressing the delegates he congratulated NIPT for organizing a workshop on this much-needed topic. Prof. Dr. Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Hospital Administration & PG Studies, Nitte University who was the Chief Guest, emphasized the importance of physiotherapists in managing shoulder conditions as it is a complex joint. He called upon students to actively participate in the workshop.
The delegates were introduced to the recent trends in shoulder care and tools to effectively diagnose
problems. Participants learnt the importance of exercise therapy and specifically the importance of natural analgesics (endogenous opioids) in the management of painful conditions in the shoulder.
Prof. Dr. Dhanesh Kumar K U, welcomed the gathering. Mr. Rakesh Krishna, Assoc. Professor & Convenor of the Workshop delivered the vote of thanks.
