News from NICO | Under 25 Summit

The Under 25 Summit, considered to be the largest youth festival in the world was held at K S Hegde Auditorium on 7th October 2023. This is the second time Nitte University is hosting the event, the first being in 2019. The event was organised by students of Nitte Institute of Communication.

As a run up to the event, an Open Mic was held at Fiza by Nexus, one week before the event and a Gaming Conclave at Paneer Campus. To the mesmerising beat of the chena melam, the Summit was officially opened by student head Kaustubh Kulkarni of Under 25 who also hosted the event.

The event took off with social media influencer and model Rida Tharana, who creates women-centric content addressing issues like patriarchy and discrimination, based on colour, weight and gender and someone who enjoys a huge fan following among teenagers. A fun event called Snacking with Rida followed, where she tried local Mangalorean delicacies like buns, goli baje and goli soda and rated them.

Next on stage was thought leader Prateek Singh who has tried to redefine financial education through his platform, LearnApp. At the core of LearnApp's success are three fundamental principles: learning directly from industry leaders who manage billions, presenting courses in an engaging manner, and ensuring affordability for all. His ability to attract good mentors has set his App apart, he said.

Actor, guitarist, model, music producer Moses Koul came in next. Moses had debuted on Netflix with the web series Class. An exceptional guitarist, he shares cover performances on social media platforms frequently and has been a part of several concerts. He was joined on stage by student Ayesha from NICO, who sang the popular number Chaleya from the Shahrukh Khan starrer Jawan, much to the joy of the audience.

The evening ended with some soulful renditions by singer-lyricist Salman Elahi. Heart touching lyrics, a gifted voice and the ability to have the audience on their feet and singing with him, made it a wonderful way to end the event.

The co-founder of Under 25, Anto Philip came on stage for a few minutes to congratulate the students of NICO for organising the event and making it a success. The auditorium was filled to capacity and Team Under 25 promised to come back once more to entertain and educate students.
