NUCSER conducted a machine learning bootcamp in biological and biomedical sciences as a value-added course for students and faculty from 5th to 7th January, 2024. The three-day bootcamp was an intensive program combined with hands-on R labs and data applications to provide an overview of machine learning concepts, techniques and data analysis methods with applications in natural, biological and biomedical sciences. Resource persons, Dr Sounak Chakraborty, Associate Professor, University of Missouri, USA and Dr. Sougata Bardhan, Assistant Professor, Lincoln University, USA conducted the bootcamp in person whereas Dr. Tanujit Dey, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, USA took the session online.
A total of 47 participants including faculty, PhD scholars, PG and UG students took part in this bootcamp. The bootcamp was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rekha Bhandarkar, Deputy Registrar, Nitte (DU), Off-Campus Centre who spoke about the importance of the machine learning and AI in today’s world.
The resource persons commended the University and NUCSER for providing such opportunities to the students and the faculty to learn inter-disciplinary courses. The participants were impressed with the contents of the course and gave a positive feedback.
