In a heartening tale of bravery and selflessness, Akshaya A, a second-year BDS student of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore hailing from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has emerged as a beacon of hope, captivating the admiration of both locals and her institution alike.

Akshaya's valiant deed, reminiscent of the 'Mannummal Boys' incident, evokes a sense of reverence for her courage, a decade later. It was on a fateful day, that Akshaya found herself in a struggle against the waters, only to emerge as a savior, rescuing a 11 year old girl from drowning in a river. Thiruvananthapuram locals stand in awe of Akshaya's past heroic act, where she fearlessly rescued a young boy from the same stream during her 10th class, braving heavy rain and uncertainty.

The Nitte family beams with pride as Akshaya receives the esteemed 'Jeevan Raksha Award' from the Kerala State Government, recognizing her recent act of rescuing an 11-year-old girl from drowning in a river.
