News from NICO | Two-day Workshop on Copywriting

A two-day Workshop on Copywriting was held at the Institute premises on 15th & 16th April 2024. Sindhu Janardhan, Senior Creative Director, Interactive Avenues, Bangalore was the resource person. Interactive Avenues, one of India’s largest digital marketing agencies, holds the distinction of being awarded Digital Agency of the Year, 11 times, apart from bagging over 300 awards in the last three years.

A Copywriter turned Creative Head, Sindhu has worked with major brands like Amazon, Honda, ITC, Kelloggs, Johnson & Johnson, Spotify to name but a few, picking up several awards along the way. She was also shortlisted by Campaign Asia for the “Women Leading Change” award.

The workshop began with the resource person introducing students to some of the brands she has worked with, the pain points that the brands had, the solutions the agency came up with after meticulous research and the final creatives.

Dividing the students into groups, she gave each group a brand to work with, pushing students to come up with ideas, make a quick study of the competitors of the brand and offer solutions. This resulted in some amount of brain storming and sharing of some doable and some quirky ideas.

On Day 2, she screened commercials of multinationals like Ikea, before once again assigning tasks. Students had to make presentations of their ideas, why they think this particular idea would work for the client, what they think of the competitor’s strategy and if their idea would go well with the Indian audience.

Tthe two-day workshop came to an end, gathering positive feedback from students and the resource person.
