News from NICO | Cultural Day

The NICO Student Council hosted Cultural Day on 21st May 2024. The event was a vibrant celebration filled with competitions, games and dance, showcasing the diverse talents of the students.

The festivities began at 2:30 PM with a singing competition, where students from all houses delivered outstanding performances. Ayesha from Green House secured the first place, with Shallon from the Yellow House and Brian from the Blue House both coming second and Arfaan from Blue House securing the third place.

Following the singing competition was the Mock Press, where students humorously impersonated film industry stars. The winners were Srinivas from Green House who stood first, Brian from Blue House in second place and Ben from Red House securing the third place.

To keep the audience entertained, a friendly balloon-blowing game was organized, where participants had to blow a balloon and then burst it by keeping it between their elbows. This lively game was a hit among the attendees. The excitement continued with a Quiz competition between the houses, masterfully designed by Ben, the Quiz master. The quiz had three challenging rounds that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

A surprise performance by a ‘taase’ band from Deralakatte electrified the auditorium. This unexpected addition was the highlight of the day and was followed by a ramp walk competition, where enthusiastic girls dressed boys in saris. The boys then strutted down the runway in their new attire. The ramp walk winners included Arfaan from Blue House who secured the first place, Bhushan also from Blue House in second place, and Sahil from Yellow House securing the third place.

The group dance performances that followed were a dazzling display of talent and coordination. The dance competition results were Yellow House securing the first place, Red House taking second place, and Blue House finishing in third place.

The event concluded with a DJ night, where students danced enthusiastically, lighting up the auditorium with their energy. During the DJ night, the winners of the various competitions were announced, adding to the excitement. By 7:00 PM, everyone was invited to dinner, bringing the day’s events to a satisfying close. At 7:30 PM, the successful and joyous Cultural Day 2024 officially came to an end.

The Cultural Day was a memorable event that highlighted the creativity and enthusiasm of NICO students, leaving everyone eagerly anticipating next year’s celebration.
