The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology celebrated 'World No Tobacco Day' on 31st May 2024 at Dr. NSAM PU College, Mangalore.
The Chief Guest, Shri. Anupam Agrawal, Police Commissioner of Mangalore highlighted the problems and consequences faced by the people who consume tobacco.
Prof. (Dr.) Mithra N Hegde presided over the program. A team of dental students led by Prof. (Dr.) Sreelatha SV, HoD, Oral Pathology, ABSMIDS participated in the event. The students of Dr. NSAM PUC participated in the e-poster and essay writing competitions.
Dr. Naveen Shetty, Principal, Dr. NSAM PUC addressed the students on the ill effects of tobacco. A skit performed by III-year dental students on ‘Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference’ was appreciated by all.
Prof. (Dr). Sreelatha SV addressed the youth against tobacco consumption and the precarious consequences of tobacco use. Dr. Preethesh Shetty was the program coordinator. The event helped a lot in contributing knowledge and awareness to the youth, especially teenagers who often find themselves in the trap of smoking & consuming tobacco directly or indirectly.
