The Alumni Association of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences hosted a virtual session on "Trends in Mental Health Nursing - International Perspectives" on 29th July 2024.
The event commenced with a greeting by alumna Mrs. Jeevitha Alva. Prof. (Dr) Fatima D'Silva, Principal, NUINS warmly welcomed the alumni.
Mr. Raghuram (alumnus, MSc Nursing, 2010), a Mental Health Clinician Triage at Te Whatu Ora & Student Nurse Educator at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology, New Zealand, explained the existing patterns of mental health services. The session proved to be highly interactive, with the majority of alumni actively participating and clarifying their doubts. Ms. Diana Rose (alumna BSc 2001) shared her workplace experiences, which provided insights into collaborative research opportunities. Alumni Ms. Jesveena Mathias, Ms. Joshney, Ms. Yogmaya, and Mr. Sujith Kuriakose shared their experiences and tips in care giving.
Dr. Suchithra B.S., Alumni Secretary, mentioned that alumni activities are being regularly organized and that plans for future events have been actively discussed. She also highlighted the college's intention to establish alumni chapters in various states across India and overseas. During the discussion, the Principal inquired about the alumni's views on opening a chapter in Kerala, a suggestion that received support from Mr. Sujith Kuriakose. A total of 32 alumni participated in the session.
