News from NIPE | Blood Donation Drive

The NSS Unit, Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club of Nitte Institute of Professional Education (NIPE) successfully organized a Blood Donation Camp on 25th January 2025 at KSRTC Bus Stand, Mangaluru. The event was inaugurated by distinguished guests, including Mrs. Geetha D Kulkarni (ACP), Dr. Ruksana Hassan (Psychologist & Social Worker), Lions G K Hariprasad Rai (Zone Chairperson), Mr. Rajesh Shetty (Sr. Divisional Controller, KSRTC), Mr. N V Paulose (Chairman, Global TV), Mr. Sakshath Shetty (Founder, Shashwath Seva Foundation), and Dr. Jnaneshwar Pai Maroor (Principal, NIPE).

The dignitaries spoke about the significance of blood donation, emphasizing its life-saving impact. A yoga session was also conducted by Rahul Krishna (II BBA).

The blood donation drive saw over 30 donors, including students, staff, KSRTC personnel and the general public, actively contributing to the cause. The initiative successfully reinforced the spirit of social responsibility and community service.

The Department of Physiology, KS Hegde Medical Academy organized a one-day workshop on Metrics of Built, Beat and Breath on 24th January 2025, focused on equipping educators with advanced knowledge & skills in assessing and understanding physiological health metrics.
 
Chief guest Dr. VK Sashindran, delivered the keynote address on the significance of integrating physiology with Metrics of Built, Beat & Breath and health-promoting spaces.

A two -day Workshop for Teachers on ‘Critical and Creative Thinking Skills’ was hosted by Dr. NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte on 27th & 28th January 2025 at the school premises.

Resource persons, Mr. Udayakumar AN, Principal and Mr. Mansur Ali, Sr. Coordinator of Podar International School, Udupi briefed on the topics and conducted various activities & sessions.

Teachers from 4 schools of Dakshina Kannada and 2 schools of Udupi district along with the faculty of host school attended the workshop.

News from Dr. NSAMEMHS | State level Football League Tournament

9 students of Dr. NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte participated in the Asmitha Khelo India Women’s U17 held at Maren Greens Football Ground, Mangalore. They represented the Udupi District team and played with the other 5 teams of Dakshina Kannada bagging the 3rd place.

We congratulate our budding football players for their notable performance.

News from MRSMEMHS | ATAL Tinkering Lab Workshop

The ATAL Tinkering Lab (ATL) workshop was organized at Dr MRSM English Medium High School on 9th January 2025 as part of the ongoing initiative by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, to encourage innovation, creativity and problem-solving skills among students. The workshop aimed to provide students with hands-on exposure to various tools & technologies available in the ATL, fostering an environment where young minds can experiment and explore their potential in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Dr Ravi Prakash from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) along with two of his students conducted the workshop which involved a series of activities that encouraged both collaborative and individual learning experiences. The ATAL Tinkering Lab workshop provided students with valuable insights into creative problem-solving and innovation. Through hands-on activities with sensors, breadboards and buzzers, students gained practical technical skills while collaborative exercises encouraged teamwork and idea-sharing. The workshop fostered critical and creative thinking, equipping students with the resources and mentorship to develop their own projects. Aligning with the Atal Innovation Mission’s goal of nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship among India's youth, the initiative empowered the next generation of thinkers and creators. A total of 43 students from Dr. MRSM School and Vidyadayini English Medium High School, Surathkal participated in this enriching experience.











News from ABSMIDS | Hands-on Workshop & Training

As a part of marking the 40th year of excellence, hands-on workshop & training in the Primescan Intraoral Scanner was conducted by the Dept. of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics, ABSMIDS on 22nd January 2025.

Dr. Vijay Alageshan, Prosthodontist and Product Specialist at Dentsply Sirona, Bengaluru was the resource person. 14 staff members and 24 postgraduates participated in the lecture. This was followed by a demonstration and hands-on training in Primescan Intraoral Scanner.





News from NRAMP | NSS Activities

The NSS Unit of NRAM Polytechnic, conducted a workshop titled ‘Campus to Corporate’ on 28th January 2025. The resource person Smt. Soujanya Hegde, a national trainer from JCI India focused on the essential skills and mindset required for a successful transition from academic life to the professional world. She emphasized the importance of adaptability, communication skills, teamwork and problem-solving abilities in today's corporate environment. The session aimed to prepare students for workplace challenges by providing practical strategies on professional behaviour, time management and career planning. She discussed seven key steps: effective communication skills, limiting multitasking, avoiding procrastination, using visual presentation, being active on social media, conducting a SWOT analysis, and maintaining a safe comfort zone.

The talk was highly engaging and informative, equipping students with the knowledge and confidence needed to excel in their professional journeys. The session was made interactive through Group Discussion and Q&A.






News from NRAMP | Technical Club Activities

The Technical Club Unit of NRAM Polytechnic organized a talk titled ‘Concepts of Electrical Technology’ on 28th January 2025. The session was delivered by Dr. K Latha Shenoy, Assoc. Professor, EEE, NMAMIT.

Dr. Shenoy emphasized the significance of concepts of electrical technology in engineering and real-world applications. She highlighted the fundamental principles of electrical circuits, power distribution and electronic components, helping students understand how these concepts form the backbone of modern electrical & electronic systems. Her discussion aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, ensuring that students grasp the core ideas necessary for innovation & problem-solving in the field.

She stressed the importance of staying updated with advancements in electrical technology to meet industry demands and explained how a solid foundation in electrical concepts enables students to design efficient electrical systems, troubleshoot technical challenges and contribute to future developments in automation, power generation and renewable energy.

The session provided valuable insights, preparing students for both academic excellence and professional success in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

News from MRSMEMHS | 76th Republic Day Celebration

Dr MRSM English Medium High School celebrated India’s 76th Republic Day with great eclat in the presence of Chief guest Mr K P Sucharith Shetty, President, Dakshina Kannada Milk Union Ltd.; PTA President, Mr Pushparaj Chowta; parents, staff and students.

Master Ruthwik Rai welcomed the gathering. The school quadrangle reverberated with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm as a patriotic song was sung. The chief guest unfurled the national flag and addressed the students highlighting the role of youth in nation-building. He encouraged them to contribute to the progress and unity of the country by upholding constitutional values.

Mr Pushparaj Chowta urged students to empower themselves with resources available and work for the growth & development of the nation. Principal, Mrs. Shreelatha Rao advised the students to set high goals for themselves and work diligently to achieve them.

Master Harshil P Kunder, Class IX spoke on the importance of the day. The students brought the place to life through drills and dance performances. Ms Samrudhi proposed vote of thanks and Ms Harshitha compered the program.

News from ABSMIDS | Training program on Infection Control protocols

A Training program on Infection Control protocols for III BDS & I MDS students was organized by the Infection Control Cell, ABSMIDS on 18th January 2025 at Vimshati Bhavan. The inaugural ceremony was followed by a series of interactive sessions on Hospital Infection Control protocols to guide students to perform clinical treatment procedures in a systematic aseptic way with proper handling of dental cubicles, instruments and medical waste to prevent spread of infections. These sessions were carried out by the members of the Infection Control Cell on selected topics to provide quality dental treatment.

Prof (Dr) Sumalatha R Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital was the chief guest.

News from NMAMIT | Inauguration of TK Engineering Co Ltd Center of Excellence at NMAMIT

NMAM Institute of Technology (NMAMIT), an Off-campus Center of Nitte (Deemed to be University) celebrated the inauguration of T K Engineering Co Ltd Center of Excellence in 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing at Nitte campus on 24th January 2025.

Distinguished guests from TK Engineering Co., Ltd., Japan graced the event. Mr. Yutaka Shimomura, CEO of TK Engineering Co., Ltd., attended as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included Mr. Junichi Goya, Executive Managing Director, and Mr. Kenji Yamada, Corporate Advisor of TK Engineering Co., Ltd. Dr. Gopal Mugeraya, Vice President (Technical Education), Nitte DU, presided over the inauguration ceremony.

Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT, welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the vision of the Center of Excellence to promote hands-on learning, research and industry-academia collaboration. Prof. Harikrishna Bhat, Director (International Relations), Nitte DU, emphasized the potential of this Center to foster global partnerships and innovation. Ms.Yasuko Sato, Executive Assistant – International Collaborations at Nitte DU delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Raghavendra Pai K, Advisor to the students at the Center of Excellence coordinated the event. A MoU was also exchanged during the event.

Supported by Takao Kogyo Co., Ltd., and TK Engineering Co., Ltd., the Center of Excellence will provide cutting-edge infrastructure and resources to students, faculty and researchers. It aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by equipping students with skills that align with modern manufacturing demands.






News from NMAMIT | Aero Club students represented NMAMIT at Bharat Mobility Expo 2025

The Aero Club Nitte students have a proud legacy of excellence in SAE INDIA competitions, consistently delivering outstanding results. In 2024, both the SAE DDC and SAE ADDC teams secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in overall performance, a testament to their dedication and technical prowess. Additionally, the SAE ADDC team earned a commendable 3rd place in the Payload Dropping Mechanism Design category, further cementing their success.

Recognizing these exceptional achievements, SAE India invited Aero Club Nitte to showcase their winning models at the prestigious Bharat Mobility Expo in New Delhi from 17th to 22nd January 2025. This recognition underscores the club's innovation and impact in the field of aeromodelling and UAV design.

Manoj, a third year Mechanical Engineering student, represented the SAE DDC team, while Bhanushankar, a second year Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology) student, represented the SAE ADDC team at the expo. It is worth noting that the SAE DDC team achieved AIR 1 in 2023, showcasing their consistent performance over the years. The SAE ADDC team's victory in its debut year, securing AIR 1 in overall performance and earning recognition for the Payload Dropping Mechanism Design, is a historic milestone for the club.

The NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte celebrated the 15th National Voters' Day on 25th January 2025. The theme of NVD celebrations this year was "Nothing like voting, I vote for sure". All the students took the Voter's Pledge. Sri. Vishwanathan K, Principal, addressed the students stressing on the importance of voting for nation-building and urged them to cast their vote in every election.

News from ABSMIDS | Free Anti-tobacco Awareness and Oral Health Awareness Camp at DK ZP Govt. Higher Primary School, Kumpala

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with Indian Cancer Society, conducted a free Anti-tobacco Awareness and Oral Health Awareness Camp at DK ZP Govt. Higher Primary School, Kumpala on 15.01.2025. Oral health & Oral cancer awareness was provided, emphasizing on the ill effects of tobacco, the influence of tobacco industry on children and measures to protect children from the ill effects of tobacco.

A total of 64 school children attended the awareness talk.
