The Departments of Pharmaceutics & Pharmacy Practice in association with the Placement Cell, NGSMIPS organized a workshop on Unlocking the World of Pharmacovigilance by resource persons from Novo Nordisk - Global Patient Safety Department, Bangalore on 15th February 2025 for PharmD interns and MPharm (Pharmacy Practice) students at the college.
Prof. (Dr) Marina Koland, Principal, NGSMIPS greeted the attendees and introduced the team of distinguished resource persons from Novo Nordisk, which included Dr. Dinesh Chauhan, Assoc. Manager, Safety Surveillance; Ms. Maithili Bhatnagar, Assoc. Manager; Dr. Sharanya Rao and Ms. Sanjana Shah, Pharmacovigilance Associates. A brief overview of the workshop was provided by Dr. Uday Venkat Mateti, Asst.Professor, NGSMIPS.
- Ms. Maithili Bhatnagar shared her experiences emphasizing the significance of medication safety & the role of pharmacovigilance professionals. She covered the history of pharmacovigilance and the apprenticeship opportunity Novo Nordisk offers for fresh graduates.
- Dr. Sharanya S Rao elaborated on clinical trials, different types of reports in pharmacovigilance (solicited & unsolicited reports), common terminologies and the process of data entry/case entry.
- Ms. Sanjana Shah provided insights into regulatory timelines, MedDRA, WHO-DD, and regulatory compliance aspects of pharmacovigilance.
- Dr. Dinesh Chauhan focused on data accuracy, data analysis and case processing, highlighting the critical role of precision in pharmacovigilance.
