News from NUINS | International Nurses Day

The Student Nurses Association of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences celebrated International Nurses Day 2025 on 12th May 2025 at KS Hegde Auditorium to honour the contributions of the nursing fraternity, raise awareness of the profession and commemorate Florence Nightingale's legacy.

The formal program started with a prayer by the VI semester BSc Nursing students followed by the lamp lighting ceremony, led by Dr. Rekha Bhandarkar, Dy. Registrar, Nitte DU Off-campus Centre and other dignitaries. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bhandarkar elaborated on the theme of the event - “Our Nurses, Our Future. Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies”, followed by a presidential address by Dr. Sabitha Nayak, Vice Principal.

The students presented a skit on Florence Nightingale which portrayed her revolutionary role in modern healthcare. The celebration included fun games for students and faculty, fostering joy and unity, and concluded with a lunch, leaving attendees with a sense of pride and appreciation for the nursing profession. Sr. Rinita Dsouza compered the program.
