The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology organized a program, “Unmasking the appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco & Nicotine products” on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day to create awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco among the general public on 31st May 2025 at Avishkar, ABSMIDS.
The Chief Guest & Resource person Prof (Dr) Krishna Sharan, HoD, Radiotherapy & Oncology, K S Hegde Hospital spoke about the harmful effects of tobacco citing examples of habitual smokers.
Prof. (Dr) Sreelatha SV, HoD, Oral Pathology welcomed the gathering, followed by an address by the Principal, Prof. (Dr) Mithra Hegde. The program was attended by college staff, I & II year BDS students, maintenance staff and security guards of the college. The audience took a no-tobacco pledge. A skit performed by I year BDS students in the local language was appreciated by the gathering.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Preethesh Shetty.
