News from NUCSER | Orientation Program 2025 for B.Sc (Hons) Biomedical Science students

NUCSER conducted the Orientation Program for the newly admitted students of B.Sc (Hons) Biomedical Science (2025 batch) on 1st August 2025 at the University Auditorium, Paneer Campus.

The event commenced with a beautiful invocation by Ms, Varsha Shetty, PhD scholar, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. Prof. (Dr) Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER welcomed the gathering and introduced the guests to the students and their parents. The program was presided over by Prof. (Dr) M. Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor (Hospt. Mgt.), Nitte DU, who highlighted the remarkable progress women have made in the field of research, emphasizing their growing leadership roles & significant contributions to scientific innovations. He encouraged students to take inspiration from these achievements and strive for excellence. Chief guest Prof. (Dr) M S Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor commended the students on their choice of institution and urged them to build a strong future. He further emphasized that true success of a nation lies in building intellectual capital, not economic or social capital. Guest of honour, Prof (Dr) Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, NitteDU inspired students with a message of academic commitment and highlighted the institution’s values and expectations. Key sessions included addresses by Col. B.S. Ghivari (Retd) on student affairs & hostel life; Dr. Srividya from the Wellness Centre on student well-being; Dr Ramya Harsha from the Anti-Ragging Committee, NUCSER on campus safety and zero tolerance towards ragging; and Dr Syed Riyaz Ahamed, Dy. Director (International Relations), NitteDU on scholarship and higher studies opportunities in foreign universities. Ms. Neetha Shetty, Office Superintendent, delivered the vote of thanks, marking the close of a formal orientation program.

The afternoon session included a detailed institutional orientation led by Prof. (Dr) Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER who provided a comprehensive overview of the program structure and offered valuable insights into the scope, relevance and future prospects in Biomedical Science. This was followed by informative presentations from the Academic, Student Welfare, Placement, Alumni and Attendance Committees, where essential guidelines, institutional rules and key information were shared to help students navigate academics, campus life and future opportunities effectively.
