News from MRSMEMHS | Workshop on First Aid

Teachers of Dr M Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School, Thokur, participated in a one-day workshop on First Aid, organized by Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences (NUINS), Paneer at K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte on 11.10.2025. The event marked the fourth edition of Aapathbandhu, a successful initiative aimed at empowering educators with life-saving skills.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Rajesh Shetty, Director (Curriculum Development), Nitte DU. Dr Shetty emphasized the critical importance of administering timely first aid to the injured, especially in school settings where preparedness can make a vital difference.

Ms Shreelatha Rao, Principal, Dr MRSM English Medium High School, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the opportunity, noting that such training enhances the safety and confidence of both teachers and students.

Mr Shashi Kumar Shetty, NSS Coordinator, Nitte DU, highlighted the growing impact of Aapathbandhu, celebrating its success in reaching educators across institutions.

The following sessions were led by expert faculty from NUINS:

  • Dr Fatima Dsilva, Principal, NUINS : Overview of Burns and Fractures
  • Mr Sukesh Shetty, HoD, Mental Health Nursing: Management of Haemorrhage
  • Mrs Sarita Telma Fernandes, Dept. of Community Health Nursing: Techniques in Bandaging
  • Mrs Keerthimala K, Dept. of Obstetric & Gynaecological Nursing: First Aid for Seizures
  • Mrs Vicky Priya, Dept. of Medical Surgical Nursing: Demonstration of CPR
The workshop provided hands-on training, real-life scenarios and interactive demonstrations, equipping teachers with essential skills to respond effectively in emergencies. It was a day of learning, collaboration and renewed commitment to student safety.
