As part of the Nitte Climate Action Project, Dr. MRSM English Medium School in association with the SDG Cell, Nitte DU organised a Miyawaki Forest Development initiative in the school campus on 5th June 2026.
Principal, Ms. Shreelatha Rao, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The event saw the presence of distinguished guests - District Range Forest Officer Mr. Ningappa Wali, Health Inspector Mr. C R Pradeep Kumar, Mr. Shashi Kumar, NSS Coordinator Nitte DU and Mr. Pushparaj Chowta, PTA President.
Saplings were planted to mark the occasion, symbolizing a collective commitment to environmental preservation. The importance of the day was highlighted by Master Dhruv Harish Kotian in Hindi and Ms. Samruddhi in English, who inspired their peers with thoughtful reflections.
Mr. Ningappa Wali emphasized the urgent need to preserve forests and assured his support in the process. Mr. Pradeep Kumar explained the significance of environmental conservation and practical ways to achieve it. Prof. (Dr.) Suma Ballal, Dy. Registrar, Nitte DU elaborated on the vision behind developing Miyawaki forests in schools and informed that Nitte DU will support selected schools in Dakshina Kannada that are willing to establish Miyawaki forests on their campuses.
PTA President Mr. Pushparaj Chowta proposed the vote of thanks, appreciating the collaborative effort that made the event possible.
