Deaddiction Campaign at Kshema

Turning over a new leaf- KSHEMA Deaddiction Campaign was conducted from July 9th to July 19th 2014, in observance of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”. The programme was initiated by our Dean Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary and guided by the department of Psychiatry and Community Medicine. The main aim of the campaign was to create awareness and assess the knowledge among youths about drug addiction at this vulnerable age. This programme was the first of its kind in our college. Inter-nitte quiz competition was held on 15th July on the topic ‘Substance Use Disorders’ with Dr. Santosh Prabhu, Professor, Department of Psychiatry as the quiz master. Inter-nitte poster competition was conducted on 16th July on the themes-

 1.Drug use disorders that are preventable and treatable.

 2.Make health your “new high” in life, not drugs. Debate competition was held on 16th July on the Topic “Fate of Drug Addicts- Jail or Rehabilitation”; judged by Dr. Mahabalesh Shetty, HOD Forensic Medicine and Dr. Satheesh Rao, HOD Psychiatry.
