Alumni Meet Report - NSAMFGCB

On the 7th of February 2015, Dr. NSAM First Grade College, Bangalore had its Alumni Meet after a gap of 5 years. The initiative was taken by Ms. Bhagya, the Vice Principal and Mr. Rame Gowda our Faculty Member who is also an alumnus of the college. Senior faculty members took the responsibility of inviting different batches of students from the last 15 years.

Registrations began by 3.30 p.m. and went on till 5.30 p.m. with many of our ex students coming in from work. All were welcomed with a glass of refreshing lime juice. The final count was approximately 300 students.

The evening’s programme commenced with an invocation followed by lighting of the lamp by the College Coordinator Col. B.V Ramachandra, the College Principal Dr. Meera Krishnappa, ex staff members of the college and an ex student of the college.

The Vice Principal Ms. Bhagya then welcomed the gathering. In her welcome address, she traced the humble beginnings of the college and the initial hardships faced by the founder Principal Prof. Victor to lay the foundations of the college. Col. Ramachandra then addressed the alumni and urged them to motivate others to join the college. He stated that such Alumni Meets should be held annually so that ex-students are able to revisit their alma mater and see the changes that have occurred.

The Principal Dr. Meera Krishnappa then shared her thoughts. She stated that the overwhelming response was encouraging and stressed the fact that the Alumni were the brand ambassadors of the college and that they should market the college in their own way. She also promised to hold the Alumni Meet every year.

It was then time for some of the ex students to share their thoughts. 3 of the current Final Year students also spoke about their experiences in the college.

The batch of 2000 presented the college with a gift. The formal part of the programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Hemavathi, senior faculty. The programme continued with the entertainment by our current students. There were songs and dances to regale the audience. A moving presentation with old photographs by Anuradha of Final BBM brought back nostalgic memories and was well appreciated by the Alumni.

The ex students then took over with their banter and impromptu interviews of the old students and staff. A delicious refreshment of vegetable pulao, raita, vadas and dry jamoon with tea/coffee gave the evening a fitting finale.
