The Literary Fest Antaranga-2014 was held with literary fervour comprising of various events spanning over a period of two days on August 6th and 7th and a grand finale and valediction on Saturday, 9th August 2014.
The literary fest was organized to hone the literary skills of language and literary sensibility of Dr. NSAM First Grade College students, beginning from Wednesday 6th August 2014. On this day, we had the following events- inauguration of the Fest, Essay Writing Competition, Poetry Writing, Pick and Speak and Elocution.
During the inauguration, Dr. Meera Krishnappa, Principal of the College, reiterated the importance of language skills and literature in one’s life. She also commended the organizing committee for the hard work done to host the first Literary Fest in the history of the college.
The first event for the day i.e. Essay writing competition witnessed a massive response from the students. As many as 80 students took part in the event which was conducted for all three languages (English, Kannada and Hindi). Ms. Sangeetha and Rekha of final year B.Com were the event managers. The list of winners of the different events would be enlisted at the end of the report.
The Poetry Writing Competition was the next event for the day. Students were required to compose a poem on the theme of their own in 45 minutes. Mr. Deepak (IIIBBM) and Mohan (II BBM) saw the smooth functioning of the event. Pick and Speak was another very interesting event which attracted students. In all 20 students participated in this event. The event was conducted in three elimination rounds. Ms Upasana (IIB.Com) and Bindu (IB.Com) were the event managers. Another event for the day was Elocution. Mr. Rakesh and Ms Varsha were the event managers. The first qualifying round of Picture Reading Competition also took place on this day.
The second day of the literary fest witnessed another day of enthusiastic participation of students. The following events were conducted on this day- Picture Reading, Mime, Story- Telling and Pick and Act. The Picture Reading Competition was another event which enthralled the minds of students.
Pro. Madhusudan, retired Principal APS College, Basavangudi, Bangalore (Kannada) and Pro. Maria Mark Alexander, Principal, Infant Jesus Degree Evening College, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore (English) were the chief guests for the valediction which took place on Saturday 9th August 2014. Col. Ramachandra, Coordinator of the College, Dr. Meera Krishnappa, Principal of the College among others were present on the dais.
