World Environment Day Celebration - Dr.NSAM PU Bangalore

World Environment Day thematic celebrations have in the past included caring for the earth and water, the ozone layer, climate change, desertification and sustainable development, to mention a few. This year the day is focusing on forests.



World Environment Day was celebrated by Dr.NSAM PU College under “Nitte Ecoclub for Environment Management ” (NEEM) on June 5th 2015 . NEEM members presented handmade flower vases made out of waste to the Chief Guest and The Principal.



The event started with invocation and lighting of the lamp. Mr.Rohit Punja, the Chief Guest, during the address, urged students to maintain cleanliness starting with classroom and the area surrounding the college. She also advised students to maintain the campus plastic free and to create a pollution free environment.



Dr. Meera Krishnappa, the guest of honour, also addressed the students saying the recent Nepal disaster was due to the imbalance in the nature created by human beings and each and everyone should take the responsibility of protecting the environment surrounding us.



Mrs Rajalakshmy K.P, Principal of Dr. NSAM PU College, addressed the students emphasizing on students’ responsibility to serve as eco-warriors and ambassadors of environmental awareness. She advised students to plant saplings at their homes, educational institutions and public places to make the environment green.



Placards and banners were displayed in the college bearing pictures and slogans to create awareness about the importance of environment among the students and visitors of the college. A power point presentation was presented by the students on the current environment day topic “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care”.



To mark the day, saplings were planted in the school campus. The event concluded with painting competition conducted by eco-club students.



By celebrating World Environment Day, we remind ourselves and others of the importance of caring for our environment.
