A CME / Symposium - KSHEMA

The Department of Anatomy organized a CME / Symposium, "Plastination with Silicone Compounds" on 26-03-2016 at K S Hegde Medical Academy.

The Anatomy Department organized the National CME on “Plastination with Silicone Compounds” on 26th March 2016. The National CME was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Nitte University Dr. S Ramananda Shetty and Dean of K.S. Hegde Medical Academy Dr. Sateesh Kumar Bhandary. Plastination is an innovative method of preservation in which the cured specimens are dry, life like, nontoxic, durable and does not require formalin for storage. Plastinated specimens using silicone compounds can be an excellent teaching aid. Dr. Martin Lucas, Professor & Head, Department of Anatomy, the organising secretary of the CME was also the key speaker, spoke in four sessions and also demonstrated various techniques. The other speakers were Dr. Vinay Kumar V, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy, KSHEMA & Mr. Harikrishnan, Asst Professor, Travancore Medical College Kollam. The Delegates from, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Andra Pradesh, Maharastra and all parts of Karnataka attended the CME.
